Jones is going to be the least valuable Flyer. Poor Randy.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Can we have him put down? Put him out of our misery?

What is he, a horse with a broken leg?
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Most of the fanbase seems to want him gone. I don’t want him starting regularly, but have always been fairly ambivalent.

I think he’s still got some decent trade value, which should be a consideration.

As much as I’d like to see him gone, my reason is only that of $$ vs. production and the end result on the cap with ability to use that $$ and space for the better. Basically, he makes too damn much for a 5th-6th Dman. In fairness to Jones he is probably just as good as if not better than 4-5 of the last vote winners.

His trade value is almost zero, since to trade him he has to go through re-entry waivers, and if anyone claims him they’d only have to pay half his cap number, and we’d be stuck with the other half. Jones is a Phantom for the rest of the year.
Maybe at the end of the year, as in a “trade for his negotiating rights” type of deal? Not entirely sure how that would work, but I can’t imagine a team would have to pay to acquire him for the sole purpose of signing him for the next year.
Then again, does anybody want a “head start” to signing Randy Jones? I think they’d rather see the market value – or he would rather see his market value – before signing a deal like that.

Any time he’s gonna be traded during the season he’ll have to clear re-entry waivers. They Flyers wouldn’t do that unless they’re true morons. It’s the same as the Gauthier situation.
Yeah, I meant after the season. Should have clarified.

Well after the season he’s a free agent so there’s nothing to trade. That’s why I figured you meant during the season.
Yeah, but there are a few weeks where the season is over and he’s not yet a FA. Example being Jay Bouwmeester last year.

Jones is valuable
Jones is valuable in the monetary sense of the word since his salary is more than everyone else on the list combined. Hence my vote for Jones.
If there's such a thing as an "unvaluable" player
its Randy Jones. He probably makes too much money for any team to want to trade for him, and the team can’t even call him up unless theres a serious injury to a top defenseman because it would push them over the cap. He pretty much has negative value to the Flyers right now, even though he’s certainly the best player remaining on this list, if healthy. They just can’t do anything with him.
I went with Marshall because he seems to have moved ahead of Bourdon as our top defensive prospect, but I could see voting for Maroon too. I’m looking at this as “valuable to the organization” and not just this year’s team, so Ross and Kalinski are out because they’ll never be more than 4th liners.
