Suprising but...
I really didn’t think he deserved a suspension. His feat didn’t leave the ground, and he hit with his shoulder. It was unfortunate, but this is a big one tonight. First look at Bouch!

Well done, Mr. Campbell
This is a very pleasant surprise. If a suspension were levied, it would have been because of the result (injury) and not the action (the hit.) What I’d like to see is more suspensions for the truly bad hits (leaving the feet, raising the shoulder, aiming for the head, etc.) that don’t end with a stretcher carrying someone off the ice. Though I won’t hold my breath for that kind of consistency from the NHL officials.
Suspensions in and sport not just NHL should only happen when a player deliberately makes an attempt to injure (Bertuzzi, Hunter, etc.) or is extremely reckless. Guys going at the rates of speed players do can’t be expected to react the exact way you’d like them to 100% of the time. Not somebody’s fault if the guy they go to hit moves or doesn’t move in certain directions. NHL, at least, tends to do a better job with these situations than the NFL does.
