John Tavares
*puts on obvious helmet
The Islanders aren't a very good hockey team. They finished last in the league last year and haven't made the playoffs since 2006.

They were so bad that they were rewarded the first pick of the draft and they picked John Tavares, who is supposed to be the next big thing. A couple of years ago, Sidney Crosby was the next big thing and now he's the captain of the defending stanley cup champs and public enemy #1 in philly. Will Tavares' career be similar to Crosby?
I say yes. Even though the Islanders haven't shown up on the Flyers fan's radar recently, they are still our divisional rivals and I think its only a matter of time before we hate Tavares as much as we hate Crosby.
Therefore I suggest we start the "Tavares sucks" campaign now so we can get a hard start, because I think it's gonna happen eventually. To anyone who is going to a Flyers-Islanders game this year, I ask that you boo whenever Tavares touches the puck and get the ball rolling.
What say you?

Haha, preemptive hating? Is it purely because he’s intra-divisional? Personally, I’m going to wait to see what he does.

Yeah – he could end up being the next Alexandre Daigle or Patrick Stefan – in which case he’d only need to be booed by his own fans.

I wish, but I’m not counting on it. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin — I think we (“we” being general hockey fans, regardless of our hatred) were lucky to see three talents like that come along so close together. Hopefully he’ll be a star scorer — but I don’t expect a “top 5” guy. —Not that you shouldn’t boo him posthaste like good Flyers fans!
Looking forward to when Islanders-Flyers games are rowdy again…

Again? The last few times I took the trip up to the island to see them play, there were more fights in the stands than on the ice. More excitement too. Thankfully the Isles fans near me were cool and funny as hell. Made the game and trip worth it.

Yeah, I had basically the same experience during my last trip to the Coliseum. Fights all around in the upper bowl.
We were down a few goals early and wound up winning, though. Lots of fun.
