Other thoughts.

Can we get some kind of Chat room bullshit for game nights? IRC, Java, etc?

Stat I haven't seen mentioned anywhere prominently, the flyers 2 away wins to open the season are a team first.  Now a home win, I'm stoked.

It was good to see the Flyers dig down deep in the 3rd and OT. My money's on locker room additions for that change.

Briere is back, just in time for Gagne to be sub-par. Be nice to see both of them firing.

Fibonacci sequence? Really? I would automatically assume you are kidding but with some of the stuff that has been posted lately I just can’t tell.

Why do we need a chatroom? Thats what these game threads are for.

Briere looks great.
Emery looks great.
3rd and 4th lines look great.
We better kick the crap out of pittsburgh – early season bragging rights are at stake.

Richards has 5 goals in 3 games? Carter’s got a few goals as well. Just Gagne is underperforming, as is to be expected. I’ve been hoping he’d get put on a line with a decent playmaker, like the good years he had with Forsberg, but it’s just looking like his recovery and odd linemates are going to cause him to play worse then he can.

GirouX????

With JVR getting hurt (hopefully not to serious) that likely mean Giroux plays on line #1 with Richards and Gags. If that happens and he sticks you have a great setup man for Gags.

agreed

That is the move I would make, moving Giroux up for Pyrola, Powe goes to center and you lines are as follows, with two checking type lines, MarioD should be excited, hopefully the Staal line doesn’t abuse our make shift 3rd line. Might even move Lappy up to check the Staal line and Powe goes down to play on our 4th line from last year. Still rather see Giroux at center full time when JVR comes back hopefully on Saturday.

Gagne-Richards-Giroux
Hartnell-Carter-Briere
Carcillo-Powe-Pyrola
Cote-Lappy-Asham

Hard to say Gagne is slacking 2 pts in 3 games with a +3 he didn’t score any goals yet but when your center nets 5 goals in 3 games let Richards with the hot hand shoot the puck. Gagne is going to get his goals once the opponents start focusing on Richards on the PP.

I respectfully disagree. He’s (or was) a sniper. The Flyers had 13 goals scored in the last 3 games, and Gags hasn’t picked up one. That he’s got two assists out of it is nice for fantasy hockey, but little else.

...

or… he drew defense because of his sniping reputation, and without his assist there wouldn’t have been a goal. what do you mean assists don’t matter?

I agree Gags hasn’t gotten a goal yet, but it still seems like he’s trying just as hard as usual. It’s a long season, I’d be more worried if he looked like he was giving up, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Last year, Carter started off on an absolute tear for goals, but his pace slowed way down after the All Star Game. According to ESPN’s stats, he had 30 goals in 46 games pre-All Star Game, and 16 in the 36 games afterward. After having 11 goals in December, he only had 4 in February. By the same token, Gagne had 7 goals in 9 games in October, but only 2 in 10 games in Januaryl last year. I think we need more than 5 games to pass judgement.

Who has time to chat???

Seriously, I realize that there’s two intermissions, but I’m usually spending those going to the bathroom and getting another beer – so who has time for in-game chat??? JK.
And it looks more like Giroux will center Asham and Powe rather than move up in line. Best of luck tonight – after the drubbing the Pens took at the hands of the lowly ‘Yotes, they’ll be looking to come out strong. Pronger needs to flatten Sid right away and set the tone early, or it may become another run-and-gun game like Tuesday … which is decidedly NOT the way the Flyers would like to play!
