Your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news...

  • Last night's NHL scores... CAR 6, TOR 5 (SO) - BOS 4, ATL 3 (SO) - OTT 6, PIT 2 - STL 3, PHX 2 - NSH 3, NJD 2 - CBJ 4, DAL 1 - CHI 7, CGY 1 -  ANA 4, TBL 3 (OT)
  • We're gearing up for tonight's showdown with West-leading San Jose with previews from the InquirerNHL.com, and San Jose Mercury News. Slim selection today...
  • Ray Emery will be in net this evening.
  • Out in San Jose, they won't get a chance to see every East Coast team. Thanks, NHL. [Mercury News]
  • Get your Flyers and Sixers at recession buster prices. Someone tell them the recession is over... [Gormley]
  • The Flyers defense has been good. [Daily News]
  • Notably, Matt Carle has been good. The effects of The Pronger rear their head... [CSN]
  • Jari Kurri runs things in Finland, and he likes Mika Pyorala's game. The word Olympics has been mentioned. [Bucks Co. Times]
  • The Flyers are usually plagued with injuries, and while we haven't be exempt this season, it clearly hasn't been as bad as in recent years. Philadelphia ranks 20th in the league, on pace to lose 183 man games to injury this season. [From The Rink]
  • There was another incidence last night where referees had to use their discretion on the "intent to blow the whistle" rule. I don't think it was as bad, nor as obvious, as the terrible call in the Stars/Wings game the other night, but this one was in OT, so it's clearly not good. It went against the Leafs, so we need a Toronto-based site to break this down. Just for laughs, if nothing else. [Pension Plan Puppets]
  • Dallas' James Neal scrambles Derek Dorsett's eggs. Suspension worthy? [Kukla's]
  • Scott Niedermayer tries to give a stick to a little girl, but two drunken idiots decide they want it more. Brawling ensues on live television. [Puck Daddy]

I have never seen anybody collapse like Dorsett did. A total rag doll situation.

J R Umberger had that look

Clean hit in my opinion he was up against the boards, he was “sent head 1st into the boards”, if Dorsett doesn’t miss games or really have a concussion Neel should sue him for his suspended salary. No hit to head no 3 feet away from boards, no intent to injury, NHL Is a friggin joke. Richards/Phaneuf hits were much worse.

NOT “sent head 1st into the boards” sorry

BTW Look at the Flyers Kings game there were 3 or 4 hits much worst than that they were not even called penalties.

Clean? It was a clear cut boarding call. He was hit from behind and there was no chance for him to get his arms up to protect himself.

Easily the best of the deals:

Ladies Night Out

A very special night for two includes two tickets, two chicken salads, two glasses of wine, two T-shirts, two $25 spa gift cards – a value of almost $230 – for only $75 (lower level seats) and $50 (upper level seats).

Nothing says “hockey” like chicken salad and wine.

Just in case no one went to the site to check it out, the Ladies Night Out and Guys Night Out packages apply to the Sixers only…

Is there a pre-requisite that you be a woman to purchase that offer?

The Sharks stadium looks so cool from the outside.

How well do the Sharks draw because the “screaming crowd” at the King’s game had lots of Flyers fans in it.

by chrislanci on Nov 20, 2009 3:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

SJ draws a large crowd actually, one of the best in the NHL.

Good I like games in energized buildings home or away my favorite place for the Flyers to play is MTL. Because every time a Canadian gets knocked down the crazy Habs fans eww and ahh for a penalty and they boo Briere for not signing there and will probably boo Pronger too. Habs suck.

Montreal is an amazing hockey city. The second day of the friggin’ draft even had buzz in the building.

Is it fair to count Carle as part of the team’s “core” at this point?

Only when Pronger-ized.

That’s a bad Candid Camera-esque show waiting to happen.

“You’ve been Pronger-ized, my man!”
