"Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia declares November 3rd as "Washington Capitals Day" in the District of Columbia in celebration of the Washington Capitals winning season."
--The District of Columbia's City Council unanimously decides that a "winning season" is justification for creating a holiday in the Capital of the Free World.
H/T to Puck Daddy for picking up on this legislative bandwagoning.

Man, such fair weather fans. At the game against Philly the other night the second they scored that open netter I saw half the place stand up and leave. NONE of those people were Flyers fans. They couldn’t sit and watch their team win for another minute, and we Philly fans sat and watched out team lose to the very last second. Real fans.

Don’t pat yourself on the back too much. I’ve seen the Wachovia center empty out early plenty of times. It’s good for the game to grow in markets.

Well, when your alternatives are the Wizards, the Redskins, and the Nationals, a winning season probably does seem like a big deal.

To the Caps credit, they acknowledged it in a press release when the day was half over, haha.
