Another similarity between the two: both included their first round pick in a trade for an impact player that, despite being all they were hyped up to be, cannot singlehandedly prevent their team from being simply bad.

The big difference is that everyone knew the Leafs were going to be bad. No one thought the Flyers would be where they are right now.
