Suspension Review!

I think the league should seriously look into the intent of Niclas Bergfors on the first goal. He intentionally faked Coburn out so badly that he broke his ankles turning him inside out. UGH!

Might explain his brilliant play of late.

Surprised they wouldn’t reunite the Parent/Timonen pairing.

Well...

… I have Timo and Tolly killing penalties in NHL 2010 and they’re doing a fine job.

Real life imitates art, doncha know.

If that were true for video games, the Flyers would be 23-0-0 at the moment.

Post game last night touched on the effect Pronger has had on the defense and especially Timonen and Coburn who seem to be completely out of sorts ever since his arrival. I am surprised as well, seeing as they worked well together and it might get their games back on track for no other reason than familiarity. I have always thought Parent should be playing with Pronger as almost teacher student pairing.

Carle’s been getting that same effect from Pronger, though.

Hasn’t Carle been having one of his better seasons in the midst of this mess?? I don’t know but it seemed like it. Timonen is used to being the man and he is watching Pronger play his minutes. Never thought getting Pronger was going to shake the teams defense up so badly. Maybe Timonen is the one to move seeing his value and salary?

If the Flyers trade Kimmo Timonen and get back anything less than Alex Ovechkin, I don’t think I’d be watching many games from here on out.

Your exaggeration is well taken but you have to give something to get something and Coburn isn’t getting you much. Plus maybe Timonen isn’t as good unless he gets the top minutes. Either way I wouldn’t want to lose him just saying he has to be a the top of the list for highest return option.

It’s barely an exaggeration, though. Kimmo Timonen is not a run-of-the-mill defenseman. He’s one of the best defensemen in the NHL, albeit also one of the most underrated. He’s the Eric Desjardins of this decade, and can you imagine where the Flyers of the 90s and early 00’s would’ve been without Desjardins?

Forget the Flyers where would Chris Therian be without Desjardin. Kidding aside nowhere. But he isn’t Ovechkin equatable.

by M from Pdaddy on Dec 13, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

Also, with the desperate straights this team is in he isn’t playing great either and if drastic measures are needed that would certainly be drastic.

by M from Pdaddy on Dec 13, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions

Drastic is one thing. Taking away one of the best defensemen in the league is another.

I’d trade Carter, Briere, Gagne, van Riemsdyk, or Giroux all before I’d trade Kimmo.

Oh. I agreed with you until you mentioned JVR or Giroux.

Sorry, but you named three players with huge cap hits then two young players we control. Kimmo shouldn’t go anywhere, but I’d slot him behind Gagne, ahead of JVR in your hypothetical “Who’s untouchable” ranking.

In reality, I wouldn’t trade any of them. =P

Kimmo

excellent comparison to Desjardin I have been saying that since we got him I think the injuries are slowing him down but he is getting up there in age and we are spending a lot on the blueline, trading Kimmo for a younger top 6 forward and a lesser top 4 D man is possible but I still think Homer has to sit up on his hands until trade deadline which sucks but any panic type move good really screw us over for years to come, this team total lack offense is so bad right now I don’t think one trade could make a difference I rather lose with Kimmo and Carter than lose without them and hope we can get back on track for the 7th or 8th seed and get another 1st round matchup with the Pens

Remember the Coburn fight in the preseason????

THATS when his season went downhill. He got his ass handed to him by a 90 year old Nolan.

Panotch says OKT will be playing with Bartulis, Parent with Timonen. Link
