I really hope the Comcast-NBC merger works out (and isn’t a disaster like AOL-Time Warner). A revamped Versus with additional programming as competition for ESPN would make me a very happy fan. ESPN’s quality has been waning for years and currently is dipping into TMZ territory. It’s brutal.
At this point, I love hating ESPN. The worse it gets, the happier I am. I NEVER watch it any more.

I love hating it, too, but I also miss the quality programming that used to exist there. Remember when SportsCenter was awesome? Then all the guys left and did “I Love the 80’s” and various other stuff and now we have Stuart Scott and a bunch of other milquetoast or belligerent hacks.
Seriously. I feel like we’ve bitched about this before, but the tipping point for me was “Who’s More Now”.
The one thing I will give them is that their commercials are still funny.

What’s this comment on your thread that you have a goalie prospect?

well, we have cory schneider playing for the moose down in manitoba right now. he tried to make the team as back-up to luie this year, but raycroft got the job instead. when luie was injured, cory got called up to back up raycroft, and got to play a game against the kings. it was a loss, but he played amazingly (even made one of the nhl’s saves of the week). i remember hearing that he was the best goalie in the ahl last year. he’s almost nhl-ready, but with luie’s 12 year contract, we’re not sure how much he would ever get to play with the nucks, which is a shame.
why do you ask? you’re interested?

Just to add to what missy said: Schneider was the best goalie in the AHL last year. He was the #1 reason his team the Manitoba Moose got to the AHL Finals. We are going to have to move him eventually. He’s too good to sit for 65 games backing up Luongo.
I’d take this Van Riemsdyk kid for Schneider straight across! heheh

Well,
As much as we could use a stud goalie prospect in our system right now, Riemer isn’t going anywhere. Sorry.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
hence the “heheh” part. I don’t think Philly would do that either. It’s wishful thinking on my part.
