Behind Enemy Lines: Japer's Rink, On Frozen Blog, Capitals Kremlin

The games just seem more important every single day, don't they? This one is huge. The Capitals come into South Philly tonight amidst a modest slump. So far in March, they've picked up just three points in five games. On top of that, the Flyers are 2-1 in the season series this year, the most recent being a spirited come-from-behind win a few weeks back. So it's needless to say that Caps fans aren't the most confident bunch heading into tonight's game.
What about us, though? For all of the inverse reasons, we should be very confident heading into tonight. The Flyers have looked great in every aspect of the game in the past two. They will get Danny Briere back into the lineup tonight, although at this point we have to wonder whether that is a good thing or not.
A Flyers win tonight will seriously close that gap between third and fourth place. They'd be four points back of the Caps with three games in hand. Huge.
Between The Pipes: Martin Biron has been playing lights out lately, and he'll get his fourth straight start tonight. Jose Theodore goes for the Caps.
Questions To Answer
- Briere. Simply put, what happens?
- Marty Biron is asserting himself as the number one guy. Can he keep it up?
- The Flyers played a
week(wow, terrible typo) weak first 40 minutes last time these teams met before storming back in the third period. Can they avoid that? - How much momentum does Washington have, coming off of a come from behind win on Tuesday night against Nashville?
Go Flyers.

It’s awful over there. If he had any competition he’d be done…

In other news, Calgary currently has FOUR men in their box.

Please Help - Anyone here know "FlyersRule" - the Ustream Channel?
If anyone knows Flyersrule the ustream channels’ password, please help. I got off work too late – would like to be “let in” to watch the Flyers. Otherwise, does anyone know anywhere else to find the live stream of this game?
Crap now my ustream froze, and I’m afraid if I refresh I’ll get kicked out…

So, there are mental break downs
and there’s that complete load of crap called “defense”
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
I concur
The disappointing part is that Braydon Coburn is the one who got caught looking at the puck and assuming there would be no turnover, despite Ovechkin in front of the net. Granted, Powe is the one who turned it over, but I expect better from Coburn. Also of note, Carle seemed like he had no idea there was someone on him, cause he didn’t even try to get body position.

It's one thing to have a mental breakdown
it’s another to leave Ovechkin alone in front of the net. But, so it goes sometimes – even to the better defensemen like Coburn.
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
Randy Jones just had an absolutely terrible shift. What is he doing on the ice with Ovechkin? Jones had no idea he was alone at the blue line, then couldn’t hit him, then couldn’t get the puck away from him, and looked lost the entire time

I Wonder if we'll see Sbisa called up after his season ends?
I hope that they give him some playoff experience. He brought a decent amount of hitting to his game – which would be very valuable in a tight checking playoff series.
I guess the question is
do you give him that experience, at the expense of him making more mistakes since he doesn’t have the experience. Unless someone plays beyond horrible or gets injured, there’s likely little chance Sbisa will get much of a chance to see playoff ice time.
Not that it’s not deserved, just playing the percentages with a team that is easily still in the hunt for the Cup.
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
A bit of an embellishment
but the PK usually gives us our best scoring opportunities.
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
wow
that was quite an impressive stretch of hockey by both teams. End to end action, minimal number of whistles.
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
Ugh, town meeting. I miss the entire game so far. Looks damn exciting.

If the first 56 minutes say anything
These final 4 should be something special
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
How’s Briere looked?

How the hell do they go to commercial now?! That’s absurd.

Ugh, the outlet passing in the final two minutes really did them in.
I was hoping they’d be replaying this one on CN8 at 9:30 but apparently they aren’t until morning. Weak.

This was my point when commenting on the other thread. Flyers haven’t won close games this year as often as NJ.

Slightly inflated...
Don’t get me wrong – Marty did a great job in net. But any goalie looks a lot better when the defense in front of him decides to break down time and time again…
"I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess..."
At the same time, if the defense is breaking down, it’s up to the goalie to step up. Apparently, and granted I only saw four minutes of the game, but the score proves that he did indeed step up.

It could have been 5-1 Washington if not for Marty.

It’s still on. I’ve had it on the TV off and on. Living in Ohio, CBJ are on my TV. I warned my father on the phone, he’s a Jackets fan, that the Pens were swarthy and wouldnt go down without a fight. We Flyers fans know that all too well.
