Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

In a few depth moves in preparation for the playoffs, Luca Sbisa and Jared Ross were called up today. Andreas Nodl was sent back to the Phantoms. Sbisa sits as the team's seventh defenseman at the moment, while Ross will probably be on the fourth line. We'll know more about where these guys fit in come practice time tomorrow. The team is off today and is travelling to Pittsburgh tomorrow.

Any idea who is better on faceoffs: Ross or Powe? That’s the only issue I see with the fourth line – who plays wing.

The AHL apparently doesn’t keep faceoff stats. Well, if they do, they aren’t easily accessible online. In their NHL experience though, Ross is 27-20 in faceoffs (56.2%) and Powe is 128-135 (48.7%). Since it’s hard to say what Ross’ numbers would look like if he played with the Flyers as much as Powe has this season, I don’t know if we can get a good read on this by just looking at the numbers.

Powe I'll bet

Simply because they like him as a 2 way player more… I think…

Just a guess

My guess would be that they have Powe at center with Sbisa on the wing. Then if a dman goes down, sbisa moves to the backline and they can just fill that spot with Ross instead of screwing with lines.

I'm a putz

Well apparently Stevens is talking about playing ross at center and moving powe to the wing.

most agreeable.

this makes me happy, sbisa is gonna be needed when carle decided to hand the puck to crosby or kunitz 4 times a game in our zone

Yeah, no way Sbisa plays offense. We need his depth on the blueline.

I like Nodl as a 4th liner in playoff hockey. Smasham has been solid this year but you really only need one carcillo on your team; I like the move but am a little suprised it wasnt asham going down to the phantoms.
