Did anybody see the shot Timonen gave to Crosby right at the end there? Crosby was coming after him and Timonen just stepped up.. totally caught Sid off guard.

how can you be superstitious? You you wear you lucky Jersey every flyers game?

Well, okay… for example. On Wednesday, the Flyers sucked. The clothes I wore won’t see the light of gameday the rest of the playoffs. The seat I sat in wont be sat in during a game for a while. If they win tonight, this shirt will be worn on Sunday, the spot on the couch will be the same as tonight, etc.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, too. I’m weird.

something about his size and the way he falls seems to make refs likely to call those tackles. We used to do that to Jagr a lot in his later years, and he just never sold the fall well enough to help his own cause

Early "big" leads in baseball tend to dissipate.
I always get nervous whenever the Phils are up like 7-0 in the 2nd inning, because the other team always chips away. The only exception I can think of was the game we won like 20-2 in St. Louis last year.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Im feeling a Carter or a Briere goal to put us ahead. I think Stevens should flip flop Briere and Lupol. I want Briere’s set up ability with Carter’s finishing ability
Good call.
That might be just what the doctor ordered for both Carter and Briere.

I feel really bad for Stevens about that $10,000 fine. He has to return his 15 year old son’s birthday presents and such to pay it… Carcillo makes enough money — he should offer to give Stevens $10,000.

If we lose, the series is over. We played a very good, very patient game for the most part against this Penguins team. They got most of the bounces (again) and we still have a game to decide. Can’t say I feel good about our chances, though. It’s not because of how we are playing, which is fine. For whatever reason, we just can’t beat this team.
We need a new system next year. I’ve finally realized that our whole game is based on the perimeter. When we are successful, we keep opponents to the perimeter; when our power play is working, we have effective perimeter passing; we operate in straight lines from the wall to the slot, from behind the net to the circle, and from the point to the crease. Pittsburgh has figured this out – just go to the places you should go when you are playing a team with an outside game like the Flyers, and you’ll block shots. You’ll block passes. You’ll keep quality chances to a minimum.
As well as we have played, Pittsburgh has not deviated from their defensive game plan, and it’s paid off for them – at least for the time being.
I hope that we win, but I’m not feeling too good about it. Go Flyers, please.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
If we lose
the series isn’t over. As long as we win our home games, we’d just have to win 5 or 7 in Pittsburgh. Not easy, but not impossible.

But yes, in the playoffs, they return to the 5-on-5, 20 minute OT periods until someone scores. If nobody scores after the first OT, they break like normal then return for the second OT.
Rinse. Repeat until someone scores.

This is total bullshit. We control a game the whole time and then with five minutes left we decide to fall apart.
We didn't fall apart.
Staal made Carter’s play look like hooking when it wasn’t. Then their point shot bounced off two people and into our goal.
Like I said, not our night, and not our year. And it will NEVER be our year until we can beat these guys.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
You’re forgetting the two stupid penalties with five minutes left in overtime which left us with a five on three
I thought you were only talking about regulation.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Technically, yes.
Realistically, no. I predict another split at home, then a loss in Pittsburgh in Game 5. You know, like last year. Except this time we can’t pin our loss on “not having our best defensemen” or whatever.
For the most part, the Flyers have the right talent on the team, but they need a complete change in philosophy. It’s a shame that the Rangers hired Torts because we need someone like him – “Play right or don’t play at all.” Stevens employed that earlier in the season and it worked. But he stopped doing it.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
5 games tomorrow.
Someone else will be down 2-0. Probably Calgary.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Hey! It could happen!

"...You know, Reemer, someday I'm gonna own a big sports bar."
We'd need to go find Andy Delmore.
He gave us the OT winner in Game 3 to turn the series around. I was at game 5 when he scored the hat trick. Good times.
