Sean Avery calls Scott Hartnell a "clown", beats Jimmy Fallon at hockey

Sean Avery made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, and despite calling Scott Hartnell "a bit of a clown", he actually seemed like a pretty likable guy in the entire process. He was also challenged by Fallon to an accuracy shooting contest, in which the host would donate a suit to Avery's charity, Career Gear, should he lose. If Avery were to lose, he would've had to wear Flyers gear courtesy of the show's house band, The Legendary Roots Crew.

Here's the video, thanks to Jefflered...

Conan would've won.

Hartnell's a clown?

This guy f-ing INVENTED the concept. At least Harts doesn’t have a rule named after him. Jeez.

Who's the clown?

23 goals in the last 3 years combined for Avery, Hartnell had 30.

Although I’m jealous of his relationship with Elisha Cuthbert (I’ll take sloppy 25th on her, I don’t care) I would never like a clown like this lil punk. If he had talent he would show it. He doesn’t so he makes a name for himself by putting his smug mug in front of every camera he sees.

I dunno, Avery comes off as gay to me. I mean between the Fashion Shows.. and playing with Barbies when he was younger, something tells me that whole “relationship” was just a front.

Yes, Avery's an asshole

And I have a hard time believing anybody in the Rangers locker room truly enjoys his company, but… Hartnell is a bit of a clown. Except Avery is a deuche where as Hartnell is cool. Harts actually scores (Avery only hit three plates? holy crap, how many pucks did he shoot?) while getting in the other teams’ heads. Plus, he’s one of the most popular players on the team. So yeah, maybe he is a bit of a clown. But he’s good and well liked. Important distinction.

And boknows71, I’m with you on Cuthbert. Even though I can’t stand listening to her on 24. Avery was just upset he couldn’t hit that any more.

You guys serious? Hartnell is a clown. I love the guy but he’s a freakin dolt sometimes.

Yes, but coming from Avery…it’s like, pot meet kettle, right? Remember Avery waving his fricken stick in front of Brodeur?

Tears of a (Hartnell-esque) Clown When No One's Around

I agree that he is indeed a clown. But even when he does something stupid and pisses me off, it’s not too long before I feel like saying, “Awww, how could I stay mad at YOU?”

Hartnell is the hockey equivalent of one of those big goofy dogs in the movies, like Beethoven or Marley & Me or something. (I haven’t seen either of those movies so I can only go by what I’ve read.)

Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?

I probably would have puked if he put on a Flyers jersey.
