"It's very exciting. It's obviously a city that's very passionate about the sport of hockey and the style of play that the Flyers have been known to play obviously fits my game."

Welcome aboard...
I wish we didn’t have to give up Sbisa to get you.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Chris Pronger, Flyers defenseman
That has a very nice ring to it. Forgetting the trade specifics for a second, he is a great pickup and so long as he stays healthy (knock on wood), oh will he be fun to watch.
Emery in goal and Pronger nearby? Wow. No more Crosby sliding into the net with the puck sitting on top of him, that’s for sure.
I am hoping for a Hatcher renactment.
But instead of Derian Hatcher pounding Crosby into the boards and then moping the ice with him, Mr. Pronger going “broad street bully” all over his bitch ass. I feel like Pronger is really going to LOVE getting to beat Crosby up 6 times next year.
He is one of those players that has a chip on their shoulder but you aren’t quite what the chip is. That is awesomely scary, especially when it is a man beast like Pronger.

Did anyone see the Ducks - Red Wings series?
Pronger was incredible in that series. It’s pretty clear the statement being made: the time is now — the Flyers intend to win the Cup this year.
I personally was a big Lupes fan, really liked Sbisa, and I hate mortgaging the farm like this, but then again, in the new cap NHL, all we have to do is look at Detroit to realize that you have to take your shot if and when you can, and clearly Homer did what he could to put the team in a position to win.
Try and imagine what it’s like to play for the Ducks out here. It’s basically kiddie time with a bunch of fair weather fans who barely know the game of hockey, and I say this as a guy who lives here in Los angeles in the hollywood hills.
If there is anyone I can think of who will appreciate Philly fans, and the incredible passion and understanding of the game they bring year in year out, it’s Chris Pronger. This is a guy who nobody wants to play against.
This is going to be an incredible year, and for all the naysayers — Danny Briere is going to have an incredible comeback year.

I am with you! I think that as long as he can stay reasonably healthy and hopefully get to play on a line with Claude Giroux, there is no reason why he won’t rebound with 30 goals. Plus, I think he understands that he has to. He under preformed last year, which was really not his fault, failing to be an impact player for the Flyers. Danny is no dummy, he knows the kind of money that he is making and that, so far, has not been lived up to that billing. With the Chris Pronger trade, the Flyers are saying we know we are good enough to win the Cup and now is the time. Danny will have a lot of responsibility put on him from the team/franchise, the fans and himself to be a factor and heavy contributor in driving this team toward, hopefully, winning the Cup. I think we can expect great things from Danny this season.

I’m all for the prospect of Danny having a great year, but I don’t think pairing him with Giroux is the answer to upping production. They’re too much alike in style, so even though we’ve seen flashes of chemistry, it doesn’t create a balanced line. Since they’re both playmakers, they need to be making plays for different lines. Put ‘em each on a line with guys who aren’t afraid to get in the mix for deflections and/or are willing to take quick shots, and then we’ll be in business.
On topic, as far as Pronger goes, maybe he can erase our memories of Carcillo using those words… Yeah we gave up too much talent & money for him, but I think once the season starts and he lays on a few good hits, the fans here will be happy to have him. Contract numbers seem to get forgotten or overlooked once Crosby gets crushed in our house…

I’m hoping for some good hits on Malkin too. He’s a little tougher to handle, so I’ll happily send Pronger after him. I mean, we’ve got him here now, so let’s use him, right?

I think Holmgren knows he got a lot of flack for not doing enough last offseason, so he’s doing what he thinks is best. It may not be what’s right or what we each agree with, but he’s definitely trying be more active in the market. Time will tell, I guess.
