"This is such a special event now. An All-Star game isn't a real game, even though Major League Baseball has tried to make it one, but to have a unique game like this, we're real lucky as a League."
Flyers President Peter Luukko, the day after the All-Star game.
Take that, baseball.

Apples and oranges there
It’s not really right to compare an allstar game to an actual game that matters. The actual NHL all star game is no more entertaining than the mlb’s. Actually baseball’s is the only one I find remotely watchable. The pro bowl is the absolute worst though.
There really isn’t an equivalent for the winter classic, which is much of what makes it cool.
It doesn’t make sense to compare it to an allstar game though.

The closest thing baseball had was the Hall of Fame game (which is no more, now), but I’m pretty sure even that was an exhibition game. Baseball’s other problem though, was that they had the Hall of Fame game for almost 70 years, and treated it like a nasty obligation, rather than actually trying to make something out of it. As long as the NHL keeps putting effort into it, the WC will stay cool for a while.
