I don't know. Maybe there'd be a smattering of boos. I hope not: I think I gave Philly a few good years.
- Mike Knuble, speaking with Yahoo! on whether or not he'll be booed when he returns to Philadelphia.

agree
only way I can see him getting booed is if he left philly for like a Hossa-type deal thinking he would have a better chance somewhere else and we made him an offer to stay, I can see then that action rubbing some fans wrong but seeing how that we don’t have cap space and everyone knew someone liked was probably out the door(and it was him) its much more understandable and no one will probably hold that against him.
Nash for 8 More, Baby!
Anybody who boos him is a complete moron. It was simply a numbers game, and it was because we had such an absurdly low amount of space, not because he was making exorbitant demands. Plus he went to Washington, who as much as they seem to hate us, we don’t really have a particular amount of hatred for. I’ll admit if there’s no bearing on the Flyers I pull for Washington everytime. Now if he had gone to Pittsburgh or New York I’d boo the hell outta him. But obviously that is a moot point.
Philly doesn’t boo players like Knuble. Hell, Brindy and Roenick get standing O’s every time they come to the Wach. I see no reason for anything different here, save playoff time.
Not Philly fans... Flyer fans
In a lot of ways, Flyers fans are not indicative of the typical Philly sports fan.
How so?
There may be some differences, but the basics are all there. I’m curious as to your point of view. Do you think we’re more critical, in part due to the fact that the team experienced a lot of success relatively early on in their history?

Cheers and Jeers for Flyers Last Year (a haiku)
Cheers will be loud for
Knuble, Upshall, Sbisa.
Not so much for Lupes.
PS – I predict a mixed reaction for Andrew Alberts.

i guess it just bothers me seeing the pens sign a bunch of players who were willing to take discounts to stay with the team and then seeing a guy like knuble go, it’s all about the money, and it’s a shame.
Gonna miss Mike. BUT...
Replacing His Minutes (and Lupuls) over the course of a season, with Giroux & Briere is only going to be better for the Flyers (much stronger top 6 now). As much as I liked Knuble, I think I am going to like Giroux even more. He’ll be missed for sure, but its’ not like he had to settle for a bad situation. (cough, Biron, cough)
Upshall might get booed.
Only an idiot would boo Lupul and Knuble.

Why would Upshall get booed? Phoenix doesn’t come to town this year, anyway.

Trust me...
… Lupul is probably going to hear it.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
I think that’s because a lot of people, myself included, think Lupul never lived up to his potential here.
I wouldn’t boo him, however.
Me neither...
… but it seemed like the crowd never fully warmed up to him to begin with, even when he had good games.
I think the only ex-Flyer I ever booed was Eric Lindros, during his first game back as a Ranger. I booed Terry Carkner too, but that’s when he was still a Flyer.

I can agree with Lupul, not that I would personally do it.
But I wouldn’t understand Upshall at all.

Agreed. Upshall was in tears at the airport after all. Cut the guy a break.

I wouldn't understand either
What did Lupul do to warrant booing? The guy had 25 goals last year and 20 the year before. He’s a career -45, but in his two years in Philly he was a combined +3. And he scored the game winner in Game 7. I can see people being glad he’s gone, but it’s not like he pulled a Steve Downie and single handedly blew two games in the playoffs, nor did he make any selfish demands. I don’t think Lupul deserves a standing O, but he certainly doesn’t deserve boos.
And Upshall… there’s no rational reason to boo him. None. The man cried when he was traded.

Here’s a question. Would you boo, say… Simon Gagne, if he at some point became a Ranger or a Penguin in the same way that Knuble just became a Capital?
I think at that point it’s more booing the jersey than the actual player, but I’m not sure what I’d do in that situation.

I don’t see how any normal Flyers fan could boo Simon Gagne. After what he’s given us going into 10 seasons now? I would never have booed John LeClair when he was a Pen, either.
I booed LeClair when he was a Flyer, but only after he started having back problems and didn’t tell anyone.
