Good list gets tough now
…. still no idea why Timonen is above Pronger, they need to be flip flopped slots then it looks right to me so far
… because Timonen is more valuable than Pronger. That isn’t even debatable.
Question is why isn’t Timonen first. Or why your seemingly G1 is below an offensive sophomore which the wealth of offensive talent that the Flyers do have. Or why said sophomore who hasn’t played a full season is more valuable than your highest paid veteran. Or why your D7 is even pickable on the list; or even better why Cote is on the list.
Are you just looking on a one year timeline? I don’t think your analysis could possibly make sense in a long-term view. Problem is, that if you are just looking at it for one year I don’t know how it “isn’t even debatable” that Pronger is less valuable than Timonen. I think you could make the case that Timonen is move valuable long term, but not short term; and in any event it’s clearly debatable. Long term Emery has almost zero value to the Flyers and Giroux’s value is clearly more valuable than Emery, and probably Briere as well.
A man must have a code.
I have to go with Briere here
Come playoff time, the fans that wanted him gone will be glad he’s still around.
Agreed
Cobby is the one guy that with Kimmo and Prongs, has the ability to put this defense over the top as a dominant unit. He is young but if he starts to use his size and speed to its maximum potential this defensive unit will be one of the best in the league imo. Looking for a solid year from Braydon . . .

Its gotta be Hartnell. He’s the guy we need to fill Knuble’s role on the PP, and he needs to have another career year scoring wise. He didn’t miss a game last year and he brings our team grit up front. Briere is great, but lets wait until he plays an entire season before we make him important. Coburn i’d be fine with in this spot too. He needs to step up his offense.
Hartnell is a huge guy in terms of locker room chemistry too, as far as I can tell. That’s a category in which Briere and Coburn have absolutely no contributions.
The penalties he takes are horrendous, but he’s not fragile like Briere and can play both ends better than Coburn, who rarely does anything on offense.

What gives you this idea? I’m just curious.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Coburn seems way more introverted, and I think that Briere is a pretty quiet guy in terms of leadership through speech. The “absolutely no contributions” part was probably too far, but I think Hartnell is huge for team morale.
