If you aren't heading to Canada for the Flyers preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 17, you can catch it on NHL Network. As part of its 10-game preseason schedule, the US version of the channel will be broadcasting the game live that evening at 7 PM.

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia usually broadcasts one or two preseason games a year, but there is no word just yet on if or when they will be covering games this preseason.

Comcast owns the flyers and yet they still don’t broadcast all the preseason games. I guess the figure they will sell more tickets if the games aren’t on TV. They should still carry they away games it is not like CSN is overflowing with great programming

It’s extremely expensive to produce a sporting event, especially an away game. Comcast probably can’t see justification in broadcasting a preseason game away from the Wachovia Center, as much as that sucks.

True

But CSN owns stations in Chicago, Boston, New York, and D.C. (among others), so any games in those markets should be inexpensive to cover. I’m not sure if CSN owns the broadcast rights to the NHL teams in those areas (I know they do in D.C.), but theoretically, they could air any games in those markets.

CSN has the rights to Chicago, DC, San Jose, and Philly of course, but not NY or Boston.

Doesn’t Comcast own a stake in the NHL network too?

I think they used CNP (formerly CN8) to showed one preseason game last year, but I’m not positive. I hope the away games do end up on the air this year, on any of the 5 or so channels they have to choose from.
