Philadelphia Flyers 2009 Training Camp Roster

Training camp is underway, and while only 23 players will make the final roster, 59 players have been invited to camp -- 33 forwards, 19 defenseman, and seven goaltenders. 20 of those guys wore a Flyers uniform last season while seven wore the sweater of another NHL team. 23 players were selected by the Flyers in the draft, 20 players were acquired via free agency, nine were picked up via trade, five are in camp on an amateur try out basis, and two players are in camp on a professional try out basis.

After the jump, view the entire Flyers training camp roster. As players are cut, they will be crossed off the list.

What happened to Betts?

My mistake. He wasn’t on the Flyers official roster (probably because he was a late addition) so I forgot to include him. He’s on there now, and he’s on a pro tryout basis as well.

On Sunday Cote was throwing his body around, the poor 18yo euro Dman he kept running didn’t look like he expected it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cote is out there trying to cement his spot with more useful guys like Betts/Bell in camp.

On that first cut...

The only surprises for me in the first cut are Nodl and Matsumoto… I wasn’t expecting them to make the team, just the first cut surprised me. Bell didn’t even try, so no shocker there.
