Seven people is enough, but I’m sure we’ll get more. The maximum number of teams is 20, so it’s going to be first come first serve if it comes to that. I haven’t set up all the rules just yet, but it looks like we’re going to go with head-to-head.

Is there any interest for a Broad Street Hockey fantasy league on Yahoo? If so, let us know. If we get enough people, we'll start up a league. Make sure you mention which style you prefer (head-to-head or rotisserie) and we'll try to satisfy the most people.
Serious bragging rights at stake, and definitely a t-shirt. Personally, I'm not all that good at fantasy hockey, but I'm more than happy to put myself up for embarrassment.

I'm in
I prefer head-to-head but I’ll play under any rules. Already in two other Yahoo leagues, and I’ll probably suck at them, too, but why not join a third?!
Head to Head plz
Make one, I would join for sure.

Signed on. When’s the expected Draft?
I had a seriously good year last year, since the top 6 flyers outside of briere were terribly underrated. Now Richards and Carter are going first round for the most part, and anyone expected to pair with them are going high up too.
Still… Whoever drafts Criesby or Genny, be prepared to have your ass mocked at every post for the next year.

I'm in... When's the Draft?
Haven’t done Fantasy Hockey since the Legion of Doom years… Should be exciting!
If everybody could post what nights they are available for the draft, I’ll try to cater it to as many people as possible.

in there......
I’ve been doing fantasy hockey since 96, I’ve won twice(including last year). The key to it is not who you draft, but who you are able to pick up mid season.
I’ll agree, to an extent, but Goalies rarely come up for trade, and as a rule, don’t come out of nowhere and become a starter. Then the usual shots at superstars like Dovechkin and Genny? Stupid to pass those up. Now, when you start getting into picks 9 and 10 for LW and your remaining D, yeah. Those are almost less valuable then a good steal from FA.
by BroadStreetBully on Sep 17, 2009 2:39 AM EDT up reply actions
well last year i started out with Price and Flurry as my Goalies, and i finished the year with Mason and Ward whom i picked up in FA. i picked up Carter and Green late in the draft, and i got Kessel and Krecki(i know i misspelled his name, don’t judge me) in FA. i traded Phaneuf for Lindstrom early in the season, and traded Heatley and Krecki for Parise when he started to play amazing. My finishing line was Carter, Parise, Kovalchuk, Green, Lindstrom, and Mason. If you saw that team before last season would you say that it could have any chance of winning??
Lol, nah brother. Hopefully they switch up the date of the draft and I get to play against you.
I know I had phenomenally bad luck with goalies in FA. Labarbera comes out of nowhere with great GAA and shutouts, I pick him up, and he tanks. Pick up Khabibulin early in FA. Doesnt play, and a week later is headed to KHL. Give him up. At work and read the news that he’s not going to the KHL now and starting, and goes on to be one of the best goalies of last year, lol.

13 spots full, 7 left if anybody wants them.
Looking at next Tuesday night for the draft, probably.

Any chance we can change that up, please? Tuesday and Thursday nights I’ve got class from 8-915. Im down with a 9:30 draft, or a draft on any other night.
by BroadStreetBully on Sep 17, 2009 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions
It has to be Tuesday or Thursday.
I have class Monday and Wednesday, and I’m going to the DMB concert Sunday, and not sitting at a computer on a Saturday night. ;)
And yeah, you can rank your picks and let the computer draft. It’s understood that not everyone will make whatever time is set.
Broad Street Hockey - SB Nation's Philadelphia Flyers Blog. Makin' it look mean since 1967.
So why not friday? or Any night after 9 30? Or the next week?
Seriously, I’ll be a bit annoyed if you’ve randomly decided your schedule and classes are more important then anyone elses.

because he's the commissioner.
He has to be the one who starts the draft, if he can’t make it yahoo will move the draft to another date. Travis isn’t being a douche, its just the way yahoo’s setting are.
It’s not a matter of my schedule being more important, but I am running the league and, as JpH said, I have to be there.
We have to draft before the season starts, and that’s rapidly approaching. 13 days. I’m not sure many people prefer to be at a computer on a weekend night, and a lot of people probably aren’t available after 10 PM during the week for a draft that’s at least an hour long. If I’m wrong in those two assumptions, let me know.

It would be nice to know at least 1 day in advance so I hope it's not tonight...
Travis – can you please post an inter-league message when you have decided on a draft date/time?
By the way – I am fine with it being on Thursday evening or Friday evening (24th or 25th). No Preference.
Much appreciated…

We’re going to hold the draft next Thursday night, October 1. It’s the night before the season starts.
We do need one more team before we can get going… anybody interested?
Broad Street Hockey - SB Nation's Philadelphia Flyers Blog. Makin' it look mean since 1967.
If you won’t set the draft day on any other night besides tuesday or thursday, or set it late enough so that I can attend, you needn’t bother with finding another team, since I’ll drop.
This isn’t a new issue, I’ve been saying as much for a while now.
by BroadStreetBully on Sep 24, 2009 12:55 AM EDT up reply actions
There are 15 other people who Travis has to work with to get this draft done. Everyone else is being flexible in when the draft can happen. Just because you can’t make it doesn’t mean the day and draft time revolves around you. Just let the draft happen and pre-rank your players. It won’t be the end of the world if you don’t get the exact players you hope for; its fantasy hockey.
No one wants to see you drop from the league especially over something so petty as not being able to make the draft. Please don’t make this a bigger issue than it needs to be. Travis is not out to get you or ruin your fantasy experience. He is just trying to provide some fun for everyone and has 15 other people he is trying to do his best by.
We would all really appreciate if you would be able to compromise on this so we can go ahead and get drafted!
*BroadStreetBully: Please don’t take this as a personal attack on you. I apologize if it seems that way. That is not my intent
by Mitchell Green on Sep 24, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions
It’s not a matter of flexibility. There are exactly 3 hours out of the entire week when I can’t make the draft. Tuesday from 8 to 930, and thursday from 8 to 930. Every other day I’ve got shit to do as well, but those are the only two things I cant reschedule.
The question was put up whether people had an interest in doing it on friday, and anyone who responded said friday was fine. So.. It was moved to thursday again?
I don’t get it.
by BroadStreetBully on Sep 24, 2009 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions
We’re definitely going to draft on Thursday. Are there any objections to drafting after 9:30? If not, we’ll start the draft between 9:30 and 9:45 on Thursday night.
Broad Street Hockey - SB Nation's Philadelphia Flyers Blog. Makin' it look mean since 1967.
I’ve had about an equal number of people ask for it to be moved up as people that have asked for it to be moved back, so I think to be fair we’ll keep it the same so most people can be around for at least a portion of the draft. Trying my best to accompany the most people.
Remember, you can always rank your list of players if you can’t make the entire draft.
Also, games do start on Thursday night, so the league is going to miss out on those games (obviously).

Sh*t, totally missed out hert
Long, long time reader but don’t post a whole lot. Maybe if there are still enough people that want to do a draft we could do another?
Official. Thursday night at 9:45. I’ll post a link up in the front page early in the day, and then bump it back up come draft time.
If there’s enough interest, we could do another pool, but we’ll have to get at least eight more people for that. If you’re not in our pool already and are interested, let it be heard.

Interested in joining league
I’m interested in joining the league, let me know if a spot opens up or if you start another league.
