Ranking the Flyers: Number 17
With 29% of the vote, Boosh is on the board at number 16. Boucher received 65 votes in a wide open field. Dan Carcillo was second with 19% and Mika Pyorala was third with 17%
With Boucher out a week to ten days, maybe Johan Backlund should be added to the board. Thoughts?

Definitely Danny Syvret or OKT, now. A good season from either of them could go a long way.

Same could be said for Carcillo.
If he reins in his behavior and chips in offensively every now and again, he’ll be another weapon for us. But if he goofs around, then I’d definitely go for Tolly or Syvret.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Can someone explain to me the rationale for Carcillo over Asham? Because I don’t get that at all.

But presently, Asham does just about everything better. Better offensive touch, and a more effective fighter, too.

Oh, I wouldn’t add Backlund to the board just because he’s not going to have a real impact on the team over any prolonged stretch of time. I’d be surprised to see him actually play at all, in fact.
If Boosh’s injury were more long term, I’d have a different opinion.

Not even next year?

Backlund’s situation is confusing. They have very high hopes for him, comparing him to Niklas Backstrom, and Homer made it sound like they were intending for him to spend a year in the AHL and then move to the NHL — at first as a backup — and see where things go from there. Then they go out and bring back Boosh for two years. So either Backlund’s lost his place in the future, they’re going to trade Boosh at the end of the season if Backlund does well enough in the AHL, or suddenly he’s going to move directly to being the starter if they can’t keep Emery for whatever reason (he implodes — not likely, or he’s good enough that another team with more cap space lures him away).
Or gasp Boucher is the starter next year, with Backlund threatening his job? Having a European import backup Boosh…that worked great before, right? But now we get ahead of ourselves.

Wow
That is a scary idea. I certainly hope that Homer is not even considering that but I guess he has to think about all options.

And don’t forget that Esche’s contract in Russia ends after this season, so he’ll be an option. I guess he would count as a European import, too, though.
Hey, he’s great at stopping groceries. And that neck beard. Both are quite impressive.
