Introducing A New Feature: Philadelphia Flyers Fan Confidence Rating
I've always liked the idea of the Fan Confidence Polls that I've seen at various other sites around the web, and with the season just around the corner, I thought it would be a great time to start something similar here at Broad Street Hockey. If you've never seen such a feature, it's a poll of how confident fans are in the current direction of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Once a week, on Monday morning, we'll throw up a poll. You vote, on a scale of 0 percent to 100 percent, how confident you are in the current direction of the organization as a whole. That means that you're taking into account the team's on-ice performance, management and coaching decisions, and the overall status of prospects and the farm system. The poll will stay open for 24 hours, with the results being posted every Tuesday morning. We'll take an average of all the votes to determine the total percentage of confidence fans have in the team. The results will be displayed on the right sidebar via a graph featuring results from previous weeks.
With that said, how confident are you in the current direction of the Philadelphia Flyers?

who are the 12
that said 0? smells like troll to me…
. . . or people who have not been convinced by the play in the preseason and are unhappy with John Stevens’ ability as coach and/or Paul Holmgren’s competency as the GM.
Or, more likely, it is just Penguins/Rangers/Devils fans, who are jealous and scared to have to play this Flyers team this year, trying to skew the results of our poll. Bastard trolls! lol
This is a great idea though. I will be interested to see how we as a BSH community are feeling about the Flyers on a weekly basis. I think, by seasons end, it will probably be around the 80% mark, unless a shiny cup is handed to Richie in June. Then, I think it might be somewhere close to 100%. Just a guess though.

Random
Who is Steven’s flipping out at in that photo? It looks like Richards or the unidentifiable individual in front of him. Either way, I picture Stevens in the middle of saying, “You realize people are watching you, right? They’re sitting right up there!” That, or: “Just ONE time! One time, can you win a damned face-off?”

I actually thought of throwing that picture of as a FanShot instead and asking for captions. It’s weird seeing emotion on his face.

Oh, and I think that’s Pyorala in front of Richie.

Ah, when you look at the full image, I think you’re correct. You can see the 7, and it’s definitely not Carter, so that’s the only other player it could be. Good call

Upcoming season
The game will be decided on the ice, not on paper. Sure everything looks good now but I need to see if the bad attitude of last season has changed. I had to turn off the Meet the Flyers special on CSN because of Steve Coates. If you listened to him the Flyers have put together the greatest team in the history of the NHL, it was just horrible commentary. He even congratulated John Stevens on a “great season” last year. Huh??? Hopefully Pronger can instill a new get tough attitude, and not the “it’s only one game” that we heard all last season. I am 80% confident.
“Great season” last year??? It was barely above a .500 season, so unless he’s comparing that to the 2006-2007 team then it was mediocre at best. This team looks great on paper, and the preseason games showed what they’re capable of, but I’ve still got some concerns. I can’t wait to see what happens once the season starts and the full roster is playing. I voted 90% because the team looks great on paper but the man leading the team behind the bench needs to be kept on a very short leash. This is not the year to be pissing away a lead and brushing sloppy losses off because we’ve got x games in hand and he’s seen positive things in those losses. Been there done that and it only leads to an early playoff exit.
