where [Giroux] plays in the lineup is anyone’s guess, but based on early scouting, the Flyers plan to put Giroux on right wing to open camp with Scott Hartnell and Jeff Carter."

my first post… i like blair betts, he is a beast defensively and on the penalty kill… my buddy is a rangers fan and he is really mad that the rangers did not keep him… he won’t put alot of pucks in the net, but we have plenty of other guys to do that… if he makes the team then powe is the fourth line center which i am fine with, and giroux can play on one of the first two lines as a wing which i think he should be doing

I don’t know what to say about these numbers. Faceoffs are something you should get better at as you mature, not worse at. So I just don’t understand.
2008: 49.3% (884 FO, 81 GP)
2007: 50.3% (771 FO, 75 GP)
2006: 52.3% (1186 FO, 82 GP)
2005: 53.4% (817 FO, 66 GP)
2003: 54% (~200 FO, 20 GP)
Start by tossing out 2003, 20 games is too small a sample size. I listed GP to see if there was any pattern there, but there isn’t.
I’m glad they invited him to camp, but I don’t know if he’s the solution.
I assume you mean better than what the Flyers have now? Radek Bonk. Also, it’s September 8th, Flyers camp opens in a week, and Malhotra still has no K, sooooo
To be clear, I like adding Betts to the team as the third line center and 1st line PKer. He’s basically taking what up to now was expected to be Powe’s job, and certainly is better at it. I just don’t know if he solves the faceoff issue.
You have to imagine Malhotra’s doing something wrong. If Blair Betts, Mark Bell and Dan Cloutier (!) are getting invited to camps and Malhotra’s not, something must be not right — he might be asking for too much, and teams would rather not waste the time and energy so they can end up not signing him. Bonk would be good, but unfortunately he’s moved over to the KHL.
I thought the Bonk to the KHL was determined to be an erroneous report.
Malhotra has to sign somewhere, and the more time goes on the more leverage teams have.
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl’s website lists Bonk’s line combinations, scoring goals, getting assists, being named player of the game, etc., so I would assume that’s about as official as it gets.
I thought that got debunked. I’ll take Dominic Moore as another Malhotra alternative.
Splitting time with two teams, Moore won 54.1% of 1244 faceoffs last season.
2008: 54.1% (1244 FO)
2007: 51.4% (704 FO, only 68 GP)
2006: 52.5% (744 FO)
2005: 46.3% (814 FO)
Moore would probably ask for too much after he had that great start last year. I’m hoping Betts makes the team. Not only would it give Richie or Carter a break on the D Responsibilities and PK, respectively, but it will also allow Powe to slide to the Fourth-line and then show Cote the door. This way the fourth line will be worthy of seeing the ice.
