Flyers Impressing in Gabe Desjardins' NHL Equivalencies
Scott Reynolds has been doing some great work with Gabriel Desjardins' NHL equivalencies over at The Copper & Blue, and today he looked at the forwards from the 2007 draft. James van Riemsdyk is exactly where he should be - behind only Patrick Kane - while Patrick Maroon and Stefan Legein make appearances in the top 60 as well. Nothing spectacular here, but Maroon is proving to be a solid selection - even if he has the advantage of being older - while Legein is looking like a solid trade by Holmgren, even if a reach by Columbus.
Really interesting read, I recommend you check it out.

Good read, Simmons was a steal. BTW, take a look t the Kings roster AND the monster farm system they have. That team is going to be a freaking juggernaut in 2-3 years. They are friggin’ loaded.

Look at Detroit also. They have the 4th, 22nd, 41st, and 47th highest rated forwards using this metric, yet those players went undrafted, were the 115th forward picked (6th Round), 96th forward (5th Round), and 56th forward (3rd Round) respectively.
Truly amazing what they can do in a draft.

Yeah, but...
I almost expect that stuff from Detroit now. It is insane how well run that franchise is, a true model if there ever was one. The Kings have never really been a great franchise and you really don’t hear much about them but with the talent they have I think the West is going to be INSANE pretty soon. Detroit is unreal and will be back(Jimmy Howard is a stud), Sharks are great, Hawks are great and now the Kings? Sheesh, be happy we are in the East and those guys will be beating the crap out of each other.

Klotz is turning out to be a disappointment, bordering on a bust.
The 40th overall selection ranked 118th on that list.
It’s 40th forward, not overall, but yeah. Plus, these only go off points, which I don’t think the Flyers expected out of him when they picked him.
Your point is still valid though.

So its 40th forward selected and 118th forward overall?
Because thats actually even worse than I thought it was, then.
Exactly.
