Interesting…I understand riding the hot hand that is Leighton but the guy also could use a break too. He has started the last 8 straight games.

Good move. Don’t rush Emery back. The injury he had is tricky, especailly for a goalie. Leighton is doing a good job in his place and i’m still confident in Boucher.

Is a 1 game conditioning stint enough?

After tonight the Phantoms don’t play until Wednesday, so I guess they don’t want him there that long.

I am always pro-conditioning stints.

Why does everyone think Leighton is the “hot hand.” He’s made some great saves but he still for the most part has given up a shit ton of goals. Sure, he looks like Patrick Roy next to Boucher, but that doesn’t mean he’s any good. Emery is light years better than Leighton and Boucher based on his athleticism alone. If he’s healthy, he should be in there. (Although Leighton does have a sick goalie mask)

Boucher has the shutout streak record, Leighton has never started more the 19 games in a season in the NHL. Plus Boosh looked great until his injury, so I don’t know how Leighton looks like Roy next to Boosh, unless your basing it off of W/L ration, but Boosh lost those games because of our piss poor offensive. You are right, Emery is better the both, but the team is winning so why not let Leighton play until he starts to look like his real self again.

Leighton has played really well latley, and has put up mostly 0’s, 1’s, and 2’s with the last few games as the exception. Just because Boosh played poorly in his last game, doesn’t mean he hadn’t played well. Boosh was by far the best Flyer during the losing streak. Its obvious to me that his injury has affected his play. In conclusion, Razor’s mask is the best one of all.

Razor’s new mask is even better than his old one.

Leighton has played his ass off. He deserves to stay in there until Emery is 110% ready to come back. He has made some spectacular saves and has looked particularly good at the start of games – which has allowed the Flyers to score the first goal in just about every one (if not all) of the games he has started.
His career numbers might not be impressive, but when a goalie is playing as well as he is, and with as much confidence, you ride that goalie as long as possible.
