Starting on Wednesday Philly sports have been great. No hitter for Roy. Beating the Pens in Pittsburgh. Great comeback win to go up 2-0 in the NLDS. Stealing a point in a young team's home opener. Now on to my post...
If someone asked you if 3 of 4 was acceptable --- with the 2 coming in regulation against Pittsburgh --- you would take it. That being said we were able to go into the Lions den and take it to the Pens. Come back two days later, and play very sloppy, undisciplined hockey, take ten penalties and still get a point in the opener for St. Louis. We have had a rookie goalie play very solid in a win, and a veteran goalie play just as solid, if not more, in a loss. Chris Pronger hasn't played yet, which is a good thing- IMO. He's getting healthy and were still floating along. Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, and Dan Carcillo havn't showed the chemistry so far, but the Briere line has been solid, Claude has been as advertised, and JVR has been playing like the 2nd overall pick that we need him to play like. People are calling for the split of the "top line", but that isn't the big dilemma to me.
We have our opener on Monday and who starts in net? That is the big question. We really can't go wrong. This crowd loves the idea of having a true #1 waiting in the wings, but we've been there before. We've seen how quickly these kid's confidence can turn to mush. This crowd also loves BOOOOOSH. Like I said before, we can't go wrong, with lots of positives coming from both guys. Personally, I'd love to see Boosh get the start, to save Bob for the Eastern Confrence game on Thursday. But this kid has had all of the right things happend to him so far, so I'm not "against" a BOB start, just not expecting it. Boosh is more firmilliar with these Western Conf teams, and the Eastern Conf teams don't need the opportunity to watch BOB when they don't have to. If he's going to be the guy of the future, then save him for the East. Or just start him because he is the man!
What do you guys think?
