DOUBLE UPDATE: BSH Pick-Up Game (What does it mean?)
DOUBLE UPDATE: Looks like Belmont Hills wins. So we'll be playing there. Please list if you will be there and by my count we need one more person willing to play goal (besides me.) Also mention if you're down for going to a local watering hole to watch the Flyers / Islanders game that day. Since we probably all want to watch it we should start early. Also, this would help to make sure we can get on the rink.
SIDE NOTE: Are we doing the BSH 'stache growing thing? If so I don't think any of us should shave until the game and then we can all show them off or laugh at each other for how terrible they are. We could also judge whose is the best and award some sort of prize. At the very least I'll find a way to work the winner and their stache into Slap Schtick or something. Also, I have a Flyers colored windbreaker thingy I got when my business went out of business. (There's no logo on it but it's black with orange and white. Pretty cool.)
UPDATE: It looks like December 5th works for most people involved and we'd all like to do it sooner rather than later. So, the only question that remains is if we'd like to play in AC to accommodate Travis and DG who are going to the Phantoms game (we could also look into going to the game as a group, maybe? is it sold out? anyone know?) So below is a poll, majority will win...sound fair?
We're all talking about it so it's time to plan it. When should we do our next pick-up game?
Anyway, list when you're free below and we'll try to hammer this out.

I’m only good if it’s an away game. My foot should be good enough for either date to at least play for a little while.
Is this the right room for an argument?
All three that I mentioned are away games.

Where would it be? And dumb question, but I haven’t been to any, Ice or street? If I still can’t play by then, I might be able to watch or something.
Let's do it again
We play roller (with those of us who don’t have skates or can’t skate, mixed in) and its a rink in Bellmont Hills (Is that right?)

Well first off, I refuse to drive. I’m never gona drive (might do a motorcycle though) and second, my lungs are screwed up and will be for a while
Let's do it again
A) Trains are awesome. 2) You don’t have to play, Jen comes but doesn’t play, there are sometimes significant others that do not play. These excuses are lame.

I apologize in advance if I’m being insensitive, but why won’t you drive? And what is wrong with your lungs? And just how small are you? You make it sound like you’re an ant or something….
5’2" 103lbs, which is not extrodinarily small, but small compared to my freinds. I got asthma over the winter from bronchitus in my lungs borderline nemonia. I’m still working on getting that good, but I got sick again and just got off sterriods to open my lungs. At this point, I’m supposed to stay inside. And after watching my sister learn to drive and the hell that went with it, I don’t like driving. I couldn’t pay attention for that long.
And Kreider, I don’t think my parents would be down with me getting on a train to hang out with people I (technically) don’t know
Let's do it again
I went through the same thing with driving. I didn’t get my permit until I was 22. It just didn’t interest me and I didn’t want to do it. Now, after having my license for two years I kind of regret that…a lot.
I get that (re: your parents), but we’re all upstanding citizens here…well except I have a sinking suspicion about that BroadStreetBully…never trust a man in miss-matched socks.

Hey hey hey now, don’t be hatin on us non-matchers. I don’t match flip flops either. I get that, I don’t think they will. Then theres the train problem, not sure they’d let me go on a train by myself (itd be my first train, though). My sister always gets on the wrong train to come home so we pick her up in the weirdest places.
Let's do it again
Im down for any of those dates, but we should get the set date asap.

Meh. Everyone wears gloves, some folks sport additional pads, Don’t think anyone’s rocked a helmet yet. I’ve yet to wear anything, but came home with all sorts of leg welts from blocked shots, so take that for what it’s worth.
No damage done worse then an average game of paintball though, so it’s not really brutal. No one makes heavy contact, just the occasional pushing and board-closing.

I am going to assume, right off the bat, that I won’t be able to make it.
If I happen to be around the weekend of the pick-up game, I’ll be there.
But, my semester doesn’t end till Dec. 17th and then I leave for Madrid on January 5th for 2 months so chances are obviously very slim :(

Why don’t we just shoot for the earliest date at this point? (December 5th) If that doesn’t work out we can always work around for the next date. I have not played with anyone except Kreider, so I am not sure where we all play. A previous post says Belmont Hills, where is this located?
Very easy, right off the Schuylkill. Here’s a link to it:
Very nice rink with a great surface and good boards. Let’s solidify this as soon as possible, so I can recruit some people. Last time was a joke, I’m glad you’re running with this, Shaun. I suggest putting an electronic anklet on Travis this time, so we can be sure of his whereabouts….
If everyone that’s replied is truly in for the 5th, we have 12 already. I can bring at least 1, possibly another (a goalie) plus I have almost full goalie equipment I can bring.
I’m in for goalie since it won’t be 120 degrees out.

If we play at Belmont, I’m certainly up for going out to watch the game. There are a ton of places close by.
Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed last time, but there was a sign on one of the gates that the rink was reserved later that day. Is this a concern for anyone? I know some people travel, and it would suck to get there and not be able to play. Does anyone think we should reserve the rink just to be safe, or take our chances?
I’m good either way…sometimes it’s nice to have some new people just to watch a game with and drink, you know, rather than having your fiance switch to “Say Yes to the Dress” during every commercial.
Is this the right room for an argument?
It probably costs good money to reserve it, though.

there most certainly is a rink. it is a nice rink, other than the short boards. BUT the air is cleaner, the grass is greener, and it is really close by to kreider and i. also, the traffic out here isn’t fucking nuts, and we could go to bar afterwards still, central pa has those in abundence.

Might be interesting to dust off the old knee and see is my fine skills have faded. Doctor said “absolutely no hockey.” Bollocks, I say! I still have my stick and gloves for a reason. Maybe next time I will make the trip. =)

Pick up games in Jersey
If anyone is from the south jersey area and looking to play some weekly outdoor roller hockey, a bunch of my buddies and I usually try to get together on Sundays at the Marlton Rinks (only a few miles from the Skate Zone in Vorhees)

I don’t do roller either, but I’ve gone out once and played on foot with them.
I’ve tried to put together a game at Ice Works a couple times. You get a bunch of people that say they’d be interested in a poll, then you try to rally the troops and nothing happens. I’ve given up on organizing one, but if you put one together, I’ll be there.

10 to 11 shoe depending on brand (so let’s say 10.5). I wear at least one size smaller for hockey skate, again depending on brand.
Either way, I’m coming out more so to watch the game afterward, the roller/street hockey is just a bonus, so I don’t really care if I’m on wheels or feet. Either way, I’ll just stick to D, and stop whoever you tell me to from scoring. Except for M…since he is the only one willing to take a shot from any distance, and I’m sure as shit not standing in front of his shot.

Yeah, I think it would be good to start a new fanpost with starting time, directions, and the works. Just to cut down on having to scroll through old posts. (sorry, I’m still reeling from my last attempt at organizing)
We still need someone from the area (Jph89, Geoff) to let us know where a good place to go for the game would be.
this has become so long I had lost track
This is nothing compared to the arguments chrislanci and yourself have had. Which I expect to escalate into stick-jabbing and slashing at the pick-up game…..anything less, and you will see one severely disappointed Vansteel.

Do you guys play with puck or ball?
I have a goalie and a couple skaters I would bring if we play puck.
I’d like to play with a puck, but it’s up to the goalies.

We can try a puck since it’s cold I’ll have more layers but I don’t know if my pads will hold up to them.

question
Is the game exclusively skates or shoes skates optional. Someone let me know ASAP I have to do some digging in my parents Garage/Basement to find my Bauers. I haven’t skated in probably 10 years at least 8 for sure.
It’s either. We have split the teams evenly last couple of times. You were at the first one and that is how we want it to be this time. I want people to show up and have a good time, not worry about skating if they really aren’t that good at it.

Cool saves the time. I was a pretty good skater but 10 years and 30lbs lighter who the hell knows now. I am super out of shape and will dying either way, but the I had a good time at the 1st game. Golf and beer league softball don’t exactly keep you in shape past 25.
Glad to know someone is in the same category as me, even if I missed the first game on LTIR. I’m just hoping my bearings are not rusted solid, because I think if I’m stuck on feet, you might need to have an ambulance prepped.
It amazes me how fired up you are for every one of these games

Hey, I have 2 buddies that are hockey fans. Only 1 of them can skate, so my hockey playing options are limited to these games. So, fuck yeah, I get fired up anytime I’m able to play some hockey.
I would pretty much agree to this word for word.
