I think Edmonton fans are just trying to piss off Maple Leafs fans by polluting the market.

That article is claiming for more teams around Toronto, specifically Southern Ontario.

A second team in Southern Ontario, whether in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton or Burlington, will be one of the most profitable teams in the league.

Makes sense to me the fact there are more NHL teams in the state of Florida than in Ontario makes no sense whatsoever.

Plus the more teams you put in Canada means more disappointment for Canadians when their country doesn’t win the Cup.

by chrislanci on Dec 3, 2010 10:57 AM EST reply actions

Uhh, same number of teams in Florida (2) as there are in Ontario (2).

by Phalange on Dec 3, 2010 1:31 PM EST up reply actions

Well, there are 3 NFL teams in Florida…

Lol, that’s fine.

There are 3 in CA. Both in the NHL and NFL.

4 NBA teams. And 5 MLB teams.

Yeah, that’s a lot, and I thought the NYC area had a lot with 2 of each except 3 NHL teams.

My bad but still that is 2 too many teams in Flordia. Florida sucks for all things professional sports.

The Lightning and Panthers are both outdrawing the Devils, the Avalanche, the Blue Jackets, and the Islanders. Why not get rid of one of the New York teams, since they obviously can’t support two?

+1… I was just thinking the same thing/how long is it going to take to edit the commercial?

And I’m a production nerd and noticed how sick the camera angle/shot was in the 3rd picture when they are looking at the screen.

That commercial does look funny. They look like they have Amish style beards there.

And Giroux didn’t need any makeup, he just didn’t shave overnight and grew that killer beard that fast, because he’s just that good.

Maybe he was watching a Rangers game or saw a highlight of one of Avery’s antics. I can understand his desire to punch Avery but it is interesting that he says he also respects Avery. Wonder why?

Or maybe he was watching our game with the waived off goal with Pronger and said “Boy, if Avery didn’t act like a douche in the playoffs 2 years ago, this goal would have won the game for the Flyers. I’m angry and have to take it out on Avery if I ever meet him on the ice.”

Well, if you are interested in finding a way past your work’s internet blocker I have a pretty fantastic source. There is a guy who has a site where he creates circumventing websites that help you bypass the real website by cloaking with fake URL. He runs the site “for free, to help people get around Internet blocking in totalitarian dictatorships such as China, Iran, North Korea, and high school.” The site is called Peacefire.org. However, that will probably be blocked for proxy avoidance. However, this, this, this and this are a few of the active circumventors. Hope it helps :)

new PP units: Briere-Hartnell-Giroux w/Carle/Meszaros; Richards-Carter-Leino w/Pronger/Timonen
Hopefully this will help. I am not going to hold my breath though. It is going to take a lot of work to improve the crapfest that was our PP on Wednesday. Are the only differences that Leino and Giroux are switched and Meszaros replaces Coburn?

Formerly known as "flyrsfrk05"
@Mitchman88 on Twitter

by Mitchell Green on Dec 3, 2010 11:40 AM EST reply actions

Meszaros isn’t replacing Coburn. It’s been Meszaros and Carle all season (2:33 PP min/game and 2:25 PP min/game respectively). Coburn has only averaged 36 seconds of PP time per game this year.

Geoff has Boosh, Nodl is all mine!
Is this the right room for an argument?

by DLJr on Dec 3, 2010 11:45 AM EST up reply actions

Mez replaced Coburn at the start of the season. And rightfully so Coburn can’t hit the blind side of the barn with his shot. He has missed the net on 23 shots (3rd on the team) of his 61 directed towards the goal, for 37.87%. For Comparision Carter has missed 49 out of 158 shots for only 31.0%. Mez is at 28.3% almost 10% better than Coburn.

by chrislanci on Dec 3, 2010 12:12 PM EST up reply actions

Nobody stands in front with the Giroux Leino Richards PP group. Carter will probably be front. I still think Richards is best at the point on the PP. However I am not sure which D-Man he should replace as Carle Mez Pronger and Kimmo are all good enough at it nor do I have another forward who should be out there to replace Richards up front. JVR and Zherdev are both weak at puck recovery.

by chrislanci on Dec 3, 2010 12:35 PM EST up reply actions

I think a good unit would have Richie at point with timonen because he would have a better chance of catching up to a break out than Pronger. Then put Pronger in front of the net. The other two players should be from Briere, Zherdev, or Giroux

I hope it does help. Doesn’t seem like much of a change but perhaps enough to shake things up.

Legein

This one caught my eye:

@dannysyvret…its so nice your sending everyone who follows you on twitter a personal christmas message…not many guys like you dave

Does he go from calling Syvret “Danny” to “Dave?” Or is he turning his attention to someone named Dave that no one likes? (i.e., “Not too many guys like you very much, Dave.”)

Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?

by mikefive on Dec 3, 2010 11:52 AM EST reply actions

I think you would need a Ph.D in crazy to understand most of what Legin does, Tweets, and probably thinks. Let us not forget this is the same screwball flake that retired from hockey a couple of years ago.

Him and Danny go back and forth all the time. It’s pretty hysterical.

So Dave is Offensive Dynamo’s nickname ??? I would have figure maybe Paul since Danny tries his best to emulate Paul Coffey.

I have no idea who Dave is, but I took it as either a backhanded insult or an example of Syvret’s personal christmas message to a hypothetical Dave.

Yeah I know!!

I have loved to play Wheel of Fortune at home, and about 99% of the time I get the puzzle before it’s solved on TV, I want to be on that show someday, when they’ll bankrupt me for being too good (since I swear the wheel’s rigged somewhat, statistically you can’t get that many bankurpts in one game by random chance).

Haha, that’s funny. How old is he?

I was pretty young when I started to watch the Simpsons (like 6 or so), and Ren and Stimpy was on Nick when I was that age too (watching that show as an adult makes me wonder how it was allowed on Nick, but I didn’t get any of the bad stuff when I was young). My mom did well so that I wouldn’t say anything bad, telling me the difference between “grown up words” and not, and I did good in not saying anything bad.

But as long as he isn’t mouthing off and behaving well, you’re a good mommy.

He’s 4.5. I don’t allow him to use bad words (which is soooo hypocritical if he knew me as a “real person and not his mommy”) and I tell him what’s acceptable and what isn’t when the show is on—I try to use it as a teaching tool, LOL. Basically, every thing they do on the show, don’t do.

Lex clavatoris designati rescindenda est.

by doubleh on Dec 3, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

Haha, well that’s a good idea, use the show as a teaching tool and he will know what’s wrong. He will learn what’s right and wrong and he’ll be fine.

But that’s not hypocritical, language is a coming of age thing I believe.

Although I do have a funny story about running from the cops where I wound up breaking into an abandoned apartment in my complex….but I digress…..
