Monday Morning Fly By: Player Movement - Done, On Hold, and Aftermath

Today's open discussion thread, including your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes...

  • Last night's NHL scores... PIT 2 - DET 1 (SO); WAS 3 - TB 2; FLA 2 - NYI 0; PHO 4 - DAL 2; LA 3 - NJ 2; NYR 3 - COL 1.
  • The Flyers are *gasp* still in 6th place in the East.
  • A lot of dealings yesterday, already discussed in a fanshot here.
  • However, the deal between Calgary and New York is being held up. [Hockey or Die]
  • More on the Flyers' signing of Lukas Krajicek:  It's a one year deal for $700,000 [CSNPhilly]
  • ...A profile from Sam Carchidi... [Inquirer]
  • ...and Bill Clement... [CSNPhilly]
  • In case you missed it on Saturday, Tim Panaccio writes about how Chris Pronger is not a conspiracy theorist. [CSNPhilly]
  • Just how little production are the Flyers getting out of their top lines? "if a comparison is made between the other five players (minus Carter and Kunitz) on the [Penguins and Flyers'] top two lines, a grave difference will be noticeable in production. The grand totals look like this: Penguins: 22 goals, 37 assists, 59 points; Flyers: eight goals, 23 assists 31 points." [DelcoTimes]
  • Trying to learn the rules before the Olympics - wonder if they're try to learn enforcement too? - brings us 87 in 107.
  • Sad story from Sweden, where a referee died after being hit with a puck. [HuffPost]
  • Today in Philly Sports history: Barry Ashbee suspended in 1973. [The700Level]

Sorry if you were saving this for tomorrow, but this post is excellent RE: strength of remaining schedule.

Flyers have one of the easiest remaining schedules. So this team has no excuse not to make the playoffs other than complete and total sucktitude, which may be the end result.
