Philadelphia Flyers Fan Confidence Rating: 2/23 Voting

The Broad Street Hockey Fan Confidence Rating has fluctuated all over the place over the last few months, from over 80 percent to below 30 percent and back up to almost 70 percent in our most recent poll about a month ago. With the Olympic break in full swing, we wanted to wait until this long in to completely detach us from the emotions of the Flyers season before taking another vote in the poll.

It's safe to say now that, as Ben put it the other day, we don't even remember what a Flyers logo looks like at this point. What better time to get the most objective results in our poll?

You vote, on a scale of 0 percent to 100 percent, how confident you are in the current direction of the organization as a whole. That means that you're taking into account the team's on-ice performance, management and coaching decisions, and the overall status of prospects and the farm system.

Voting will be open for 24 hours, and the results will be posted on tomorrow morning and graphed alongside previous results.

So, how confident are you in the current direction of the Philadelphia Flyers? Vote in the poll and let us know how you feel in the comments.

voted 60% last month, would have voted around 65-68% (i rounded up) based on the play in those last 4 games.

would have jacked that mutha’ higher if not for the olympics potentially messing up the flow of the team right now.

Nice four game set to close out the pre-Olympic break aside, this team is still center heavy, winger void, defensively confounded and goaltender unknown. That doesn’t add up to a whole lot of confidence in my book. I find the GM to be utterly not qualified nor dynamic enough so I don’t feel it is going to drastically change. Because what they do have playing nightly can still out talent a lot of the dreck in this league I am at 40% up from 30%. This team is not cup capable and until philosophical ideals change around here don’t hold your breath. I watch for the action of the sport only, not for the anticipation of success.

40% is low I think, not trying to tell you how to rate your confidence. But we are 10 pts out of 1st for our division and on paper winable games coming out of the break(T.B., FLA,TOR,NYI) Won 4 of 5 before(2 against NJ) I wanted to give a 65 but rounded up to 70%

I look at this as confident the organization is moving positively towards winning a stanley cup. Not in just competing and beating the horrible teams in this league. I think they have a less than 50% chance in winning a Stanley Cup.

a coin flip from winning the stanley cup?

i don’t think any team is at that level right now.

I really meant I was less than 50% confident they could win a Stanley Cup

I voted 60. We went into the break strong but lets see how we come out after the break

OK, those who voted 80-90 percent are voting a bit high, but 0%? Really? They aren’t that bad.

I can get behind anything from the 40-60% range at this point, and move up from there depending on what they do post-break (which has been unkind to them in the past).

I think whoever voted 0% should front up!

Any bets that it will be a non-Flyer fan?

I voted 70%. Fairly happy with the team atm but its easy to get caught up in the emotion of winning those last 4 games. Remembering the EDM and MIN losses makes me want to drop it down to 60% now.

A lot of Penguins fans follow me on Twitter (I get their ‘wrath’ a lot in reply form). Every post we make goes straight to Twitter automatically, and since non-registered members can vote, we’ll always get some trolls.

I voted 0%

I love the Flyers. I am also very superstitious. I voted 0% at the begining of the year and they were doing pretty good. Then when we voted again I voted 60% and they palyed like crap so from then on I voted 0% and everytime I do them seem to play relatively good. I’m weird I know. My wife makes fun of me all the time. She keeps telling me that I have nothing to do with how they play.

I can appreciate it for superstutions, but the only team I can think of that really deserves 0% would be Edmonton.

Don’t fuck when your on a winning streak.

Very much so.

Post-Olympic Break Records for the Flyers:

1998: 13-12-2
2002: 9-12-4
2006: 12-10-2

The “2” in 1998 and “4” in 2002 are ties.

According to Mirtle, the Flyers could party like it’s 2002 and still make the playoffs. If they have any hope of advancing, however, that can’t happen.

Let’s look at the last couple of Cup champs:

2006 Carolina Hurricanes: 10-8-4, but that’s totally cool because Lavy was their head coach and now he’s OUR head coach so that means we’re going to win the Cup
2007 Ducks of Anaheim: 10-7-5, but 9-3-3 in their last 15
2008 Redd Wynges of DetWOHH: 13-7-2, but 7-2-1 in their last 10
2009 That Team From the City Where Nate McLouth Used to Play: 16-3-3

I voted 50% because while I am happy right now thanks to a 4 game winning streak, I remind myself how streaking and inconsistent this team is and they are just as likely to lose 4 games straight. I thought that 50% was appropriate because this team reaches its potential about 50% of the time and have hovered around a .500 winning percentage all season.

Yeah this team has serious issues on wing, and at goal….. as well as the cap mismanagement and mortgaging.

50%.

90%, assuming Michael Leighton keeps the starting job.

80% for me team is playing better but as it comes down to it every year is the team playing best going into the playoffs is going to have a nice run, last year we blew two games and home ice this year I hope the leadership brought in here and the experience of last year prevents that from happening. I still think we are a scary team come playoffs and if Timmy P is correct and Emery stays on the IR for the year we can easily bring in some winger help to get that top line going, and if Leighton stays hot we might have the hottest goalie going into the post-season. The team is still very young 26.7 years of average age so there is no reason to believe this team in heading on a downward path. The teams ahead of us are not without their flaws so I am staying positive as always.
