Ilya Kovalchuk traded to the Devils
7:40PM: Still waiting on who and what the Devils have sent to Atlanta in return. Rumors say that Oduya is one of the pieces.
7:47PM: General consensus is that Oduya is definitely one of the players being sent by NJ. Another is Swedish youngster Niclas Bergfors. Also, reports saying the Devils gave up a prospect and a 1st Rd pick.
7:52PM: Mattias Tedenby is rumored to be the prospect the Devs are sending to ATL. I am impressed if this is all that the Devils have given up.
8:05PM: Reports are less certain about who the prospect is. Some are saying its Tedendy. Others are mentioning Cormier and I have also seen Nick Palmieri. Still waiting to see for sure.
8:12PM: Bob McKenzie from TSN says "Oduya, Bergfors, Tedenby and 1st round pick" and Kevin Allen from USA Today says "Atlanta Thrashers receive Oduya, Bergfors, Patrice Cormier and a 1st-round pick for Kovalchuk." Interesting . . .
8:16PM: Nope, Kevin Allen was and has been right all day. Devils have sent Oduya, Bergfors, Patrice Cormier and a 1st-Round pick. It looks to be pretty much official.
8:19PM: From Kevin Allen's twitter: "For those interested, St. Louis and Ottawa were the mystery teams that kicked the tires on Kovalchuk. Bravo for their aggressiveness"
8:28PM: Tying up the loose ends - Anssi Salmela also apart of the deal; going back to NJD.
Alright, I am gonna stop with the updates now because the deal is official. Considering, Kovalchuk is probably just a rental, I would say that the Devils have done pretty well. How well Kovalchuk fits into Lemaire's system remains to be seen.
Oh ya, and just to remind everyone, the Flyers have a home and home with the Devils on Monday and Wednesday of next week, so we'll be one of the first teams to see Kovalchuk in red and black.

I’m not sure who some of these prospects are but it seems like the Devils made a decent deal for Kovi. They gave up a lot of prospects but it seems like they’re going for it. It’ll be interesting to see how Kovi fits in with the Devils I just hope it takes them a week to figure it out. Hopefully we won’t see them in the first round
