Bitter Bitter Bitter.

bitter , bitter, bitter... not only do the devils have the best goalie that ever played the game, they have one of the top 5 offense players in the league. i would feel much better if Phaneuf was in orange and black to counter act this move. Carter straight up for Kovy is a better deal than what waddell got.. the best player they got is suspended . Cormier will be a legit player. a nasty mike richards. well the best we can hope for is a first rd vs buff. then an 2nd rd spanking from one the legit contenders. nobody out there on the trade block can help us now. Whitney maybe, but we cant take on that cap hit, carolina doesnt wanna take money back. As much as im hurting from this news today. i will hang my head high and continue to scream LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phaneuf sucks, let him suck in Toronto for all I care.

I’d like to see a proper “trade block” website as opposed to wading through posts from Eklund.

And hey, a second-round loss would be something of a novelty for the Flyers; they’ve only been bounced in the second round 4 times in 33 playoff appearances.

Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?

if the flyers make the second round, I’m buying a dozen powerball tickets because I will consider it the luckiest day of my life.

Jp , i respectfully disagree. Phaneuf is a game changer.. Hits like a Freight Train and has a Cannon shot from the point.. He is more of a threat to Crush a Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, and Now kovy coming over the blue line than any one on the flyers now. Ask the fans in toronto if he sucks. as they chanted DION,DION,DION.. after clipping parise then beating up colin white on the same shift. or anyone who has ever watched him play other than the once a year the flyers played the flames. he has 10 goals this year on a down year.. the kid is 24.. so again i disagree.

Sucks is a bit much, but I’m definitely in the “Phaneuf is overrated” camp.

Phaneuf would have fit right in with this Flyers squad though. One game he is amazing, worth the price of admission and the next game he plays like he doesn’t give a shit.

I am from Calgary, and I have seen Phaneuf play, more than a few times.
Can he hit? When he wants to.
Does he have a cannon of a shot? Yes. But he misses the net 2 out of 3 times, if not more.
Is he overpaid? Hell yes. Do I want him on my team? Hell no.
He had a great rookie year, then has declined ever since, he could turn it around, he is still young. But I would rather Homer spent some cash on some PROVEN players, as opposed to handing out too much money to POTENTIALLY good players, ala Briere and Hartnell.

I am not even a Flames fan, and I am happy they traded his ass out of town….too bad he is taking Elisha with him tho ;)

Briere’s much more than a good player, but I’ll agree with you on Hartnell.

Phaneuf or Coburn?

by Flyerfan55 on Feb 5, 2010 11:31 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

more like Phaneuf or Pronger because Phaneuf makes over 6 million to Coburns 1.5

by chrislanci on Feb 5, 2010 11:32 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

is this who is better or who is more overrated, and Coburn was drafted before Phaneuf

by JpH89 on Feb 5, 2010 1:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

can't have it all

We blew our trade load on Pronger couldn’t get them both, who would you rather have Pronger or Kovy? The Atlantic Division is by far the best division in sports, jesus Malkin Crosby, Gaborik, Kovy, Fleury, Pronger, Tavares, Lundquist, Brodeur stars out the ass.

by chrislanci on Feb 5, 2010 11:35 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

i hear ya chris, im just saying who would u rather have.. just saying toronto never made the deal for him.. u trade hartnell and coburn or even carter straight up for phaneuf. carter has one year left on his contract after this season and we all know he’s gonna ask for upwards of 7 mil a year. would u feel better with our defense looking like pronger, kimmo, phaneuf, carle , coburn bartulis, parent . or even minus coburn heading down the stretch.

by Flyerfan55 on Feb 5, 2010 11:45 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

This is an idea I’ve been advocating for awhile now. It’s not that I don’t love Carter- I mean the Carter that played last year and has been showing his face for the last 15 games or so is spectacular, and I’d be very happy to keep him here for years. But like you said, he’s gonna ask for money that we can’t afford after next year, and we’ve already got centers for a mile- Richards and Briere aren’t going anywhere, and if Giroux is allowed to walk or is used as trade bait I’ll disown the Flyers forever. It just makes sense to trade Carter.

"He told me, 'Keep your head up.' I didn't realize he meant the whole season."

by eeeeee on Feb 5, 2010 11:53 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i agree… giroux is the most talented player on the team.

by Flyerfan55 on Feb 5, 2010 11:59 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

can’t spend that kind of money on the blueline, it just doesn’t make sense

Pronger 6 million
Timmonen 6
Phaneuf 6
Carle 3.5

that would be 21.5 million over 1/3 of the salary cap on 4 D-Men

Also Carter and Gagne contracts expire the same year so there will be plenty of money to get them both back at the same combined total if we wanted to say 3 million to Gagne and 7 to Carter which might for each of them we are still saving 250,000.

By “we” do you mean the Caps?

Because the Flyers just lost to the worst team in the NHL.

by MarioD on Feb 6, 2010 10:54 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The phillies lost some games to the nationals, and went to the world series.
The eagles a game to the Raiders. THE RAIDERS! and still made it to the playoffs.

I have faith in the flyers and hopefully they will pull through

Baseball = different. By a lot.

The Eagles lost to the Raiders and ultimately got crushed by a pretty mediocre Dallas team two weeks in a row.
