Nick Boynton on RE-ENTRY Waivers
I don't know what anaheim is doing but Holmgren better claim him if he gets that far. They'll only have to split his $1.5 salary, making him cheaper than Parent and the same cost as Krajicek.
They can waive OKT and only increase payroll by $150k.

I agree. He should certainly be claimed. Claim Boynton, waive OKT.
But… you know Homer won’t. Right?
Does anyone have a direct line to the Flyers front office? Maybe someone can explain this to them as succinctly as Mario just did…

well, whoever claims him better have a better waiver pick than us.

Mario: Maybe you can tell Seravalli this, explain to him why this is such a no-brainer, and request that he brings this to Homer’s attention. Think Seravalli would lobby Homer to do something smart?

Oh, I should say: Knowing that isn’t Seravalli’s job, I’d at least like to hear Homer try to explain why he didn’t claim Boynton when he undoubtedly won’t. And Seravalli can ask that question.

Is Seravalli saying they shouldn’t claim Boynton? Or are you just saying he has a direct line to Holmgren? I’m confused.
Either way, I’m pretty sure that would cross a journalistic line.
I’m well aware it would cross a journalistic line, which is why I added that caveat.
Basically, this is where, if I had Seravalli’s job, I’d immediately go to Holmgren and ask “Nick Boynton is on re-entry waivers. Do the Flyers have any interest in claiming him?”
The answer would obviously not be straight forward, but it lets Holmgren know (if he truly is oblivious) that he should look into it. Then, when Holmgren doesn’t claim him, I’d go back and ask Holmgren why he didn’t want to add a prorated $750k defenseman.
