Q: A couple of weeks ago at a frat party, I began to get with a pretty cute girl. As the night wore on, and the drinks started flowing, she took me back to her apartment. When I entered her room, the first thing I saw was a giant Sidney Crosby poster. Without saying another word to her, I left. My buddies have never stopped making fun of me since, but I still insist that it was the proudest moment of my life as a die-hard Flyers fan. Can you please give me some consolidation, or should I have just swallowed my pride? In my defense, I would not qualify her as "hot."

I have no idea what he was asking for there. But that’s an awesome story.

Does that even make sense though? Wouldn’t he rather get “props” or “respect”, not “comfort”?
Either way, he messed that one up.

Dude has his convictions and I have to give him his propers for that. I am similar in that I couldn’t marry a man who preferred Pepsi to Coke. Or if he was a fan of the Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers, Red Wings, Georgetown or Duke. A girls’ gotta have her standards.

I bang a Crosby fan almost every night. Does that make me less of a Flyer fan?

Does this Crosby fan have a poster in their room?

good point. she is a grown woman, so the answer is obviously “no”, but she does have a Crosby Winter Classic jersey hanging in her closet, does that count?

Is she die-hard Penguins fan or just a Crosby fan? I actually know some of the latter.

she’s more of a crosby lover, casual penguins fan, probably more of a Flyers fan now that she’s forced to watch every Flyers game. I don’t really allow watching of Penguins games unless it’s vs. the flyers. Ask her to name 5 penguins other than crosby and she wouldn’t be able to do it. Ask her to name 10 Flyers and she’d probably ace it. haha.

haha, she’s allowed. Women can wear those blue jerseys. Men, however, should not.

But how do you feel about men wearing the Phillies throwback road blues? FYI, there’s going to be one retro game this year (against Mil, I think) where the Phils are going to wear the throwback blues. I am very excited about this, because I love them, but I also love Toronto’s blues.

I’m massively excited for those. I’m pretty sure it’s against Milwaukee too.
Not a fan of Toronto’s, mainly because I hate pullovers.

Personally, even as a girl myself, I agree with Geoff that the Penguin’s throwback design does skew towards female fans, and maybe boys under 8 or so can pull it off. The retro Phillies uniform doesn’t give me the same vibe.
It’s not just an anti-Pittsburgh thing necessarily, because I also think those horrific powder blue/yellow Eagles throwback uniforms were feminine looking, too. I hate the Penguins as much as everybody else, but even I have to admit that the Penguins throwback is the lesser of those two evils…

I am with this guy. I wouldn’t touch a Penguins fan with a 10 foot pole. My girlfriend is from Pittsburgh but has no interest in sports whatsoever. It is sometimes frustrating because Philly sports are pretty much my life and she doesn’t give a rats ass. But, every time I think about it I remind myself that her lack of interested in sports means she is not a Pittsburgh sports fan and thus I can date her. Phew . . .
you should have done...
you should have done unspeakable things to her, then immediately after, rip the poster in half and run for it
child please
