Flyers sign undrafted prospect C Luke Pither
The Flyers have made a minor signing today, picking up undrafted young center Luke Pither, according to Frank Seravalli.
Pither currently plays for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League and is in his final year of junior eligibility. He has scored 34 goals and 52 assists in 60 games this season, good for eighth in the league.

Does this count toward our 50 total contracts limit? I can’t find anything other than Seravalli’s tweet, but we’ve got to be close to or at that 50 number if it does.
It does count, yes. Maybe I’ll compile a list of all of our contracts after the deadline as a reference, so we know where that stands at all times.

You can use the CapGeek site I just linked to. haha That’s the only place I know of (and I found out about it, maybe a month ago).

It depends… He would be the 50th contract, unless he somehow fit under this definition (provided by CapGeek):
18- and 19-year-old “slide risks” who will only count against the 50-man limit if they play more than 11 games with the NHL club.
In which case he wouldn’t count (just like Zac Rinaldo, Tyler Hostetter, and Eric Wellwood). But since he’s 20 right now, I’d venture that he’s the 50th.

And if you are curious (I was), using Gabriel Desjardins’ NHL Equivalencies (info found here), if Pither jumped to the NHL tomorrow, he could be expected to score 25.8 points/season.
That definitely makes his 86 points less impressive, but he has plenty of time to improve.

Yeah, but,
If he scored 20 goals and 5.8 assists every year maybe it would be easier to take.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
haha, true. And it’s not like he’ll be jumping to the NHL next year anyway.
