With Michael Leighton likely out of action for at least a few weeks with a high ankle sprain...

Homer will be quite unhappy that they undermined his modus operandi. The first week after injury is supposed to be constant “day-to-day” or “not a major problem” comments.
Well, he did say last night that it was DTD. i guess the progression is just getting faster now.

I’m kinda with you there, I got the impression that mentioning that about Leighton was a slip of the tongue, not something Homer gave him permission to say.
However, if he’s being more honest than Homer anyway, maybe Backlund’s injury isn’t all that bad, since he mentions down below that it was minor.

Maybe this means we’ll see Backlund and/or Duchesne start a game… oh wait, Laviolette would rather see Boucher get injured than do that.
Well, I’d rather see Boucher get injured than see Duchesne start a game too…

Ehh… 13 straight, including a couple back-to-backs, doesn’t bode well for a guy who’s basically only seen practice time since December…
No, but Duchesne is… not an AHL goalie. If Backlund gets healthy, he should replace Duchesne, and then I’m all for giving him a start or two. But not Duchesne.

Yes, me too. I get the impression that Backlund’s injury isn’t too serious, so hopefully this happens.

I guess that really depends on how bad the personal issues actually are between him and Boosh…

I’m still mystified why Boosh isn’t playing. In my book, he’s marginally better than Leighton and if somehow this team turned waiver wire Leighton into a starting goaltender, could they not do the same for Boosh?

Oh, I’m right there with you. I can see going with the “hot hand” but at some point, that hand just becomes burnt.
(How awesome was that comparison?) /horn tooted.

I find it mildly amusing our 4th string goalie couldn’t be called up, so we’re going with our 5th string.
On the plus side, with all the injuries and failed goalies, I’m getting closer to my fantasy of the coach picking me out of the stands to play in net.

haha, if you think about it, Duchesne was our 6th string until two weeks ago.
