What the Bruins should do instead is play their most physical game of the year. Contest every loose puck. Take Sidney Crosby down every chance they get. He, not Cooke, is the Penguins’ heart and soul. Make him bleed for the sins of his teammate.

Take him into the boards. Knock him down every chance you get. Bounce a puck off his nose if you can. If you get a blind side shot at him, put your body through his chest.

Same is true of Evgeni Malkin if he plays. He may not due to - as the insurance companies say - a pre-existing condition (he missed last night’s game against New Jersey). If he does try to skate, put a body on his already injured body every chance you get.

Touch the puck, eat a Bruin. Shoot the puck, eat a Bruin. Think about coming over the boards, eat a Bruin.

To be fair, he does say to harass them with legal hits, basically to ride Crosby and Malkin and hit them whenever they can (which is easier said than done). Unfortunately, that’s in the first paragraph on the second page, which makes it less visible than his machismo schtick.

And they say Philly is full of animals. The fans may call for this kind of vigilante justice, but I don’t think it’s responsible for journalists (and team announcers—I’m looking at you, Jack Edwards) to write this kind of stuff. Just my two cents.

What the Bruins should do...

… is triple-shift Thornton and start every tough guy they have. Then they can lose. You know, like the Flyers did on Sunday.

I don’t see a problem with that article at all.

There’s nothing wrong with what he’s saying here. However, the fact that this article should even have to be written is the issue.

Before the “Instigator Rule” and all of that other business which led to the uptick in cheap shots, this article would never have to be written. If Team A’s tough guy targeted one of Team B’s stars, Team B would respond in kind by going after Team A’s stars. Everything would even out after a fight or two and the teams would move on and play hockey. Problem solved.

The real problem is that, if the Bruins play this way (especially in regard to Crosby), they’ll be shorthanded all night.

No, I have absolutely no problem with this article. Ron Borges says nothing wrong here . . .

that is hockey in a nutshell, Pittsburg is going to probably be the one’s dressing their tough guys to protect Cindy, which is exactly what we did for the Rangers game. The would be going after our skilled guys because Carcillo beat up Gaborik. Run Crosby and he will probably be hiding on the end of the bench like he did against us after he slew foot Marty Biron in a 7-2 loss last year. He did’t take a shift for the last 10 minutes of the game.
