Is it all in an attempt to sign Nashville’s Dan Hamhuis?

 “acquire” not “sign” Hamhuis.

and could we just be waiting on Cote/Syvret to clear waivers?

They will clear waivers at noon today. I’m not sure how transactions made at night work, so I can’t say whether they could’ve announced last night, but they are definitely not waiting for waivers now. If they announce a transaction this morning, they don’t have to get back under the cap until 5pm today, well after waivers on Syvret and Cote have been determined.

Seravalli is saying the Predators are interested in both Parent and Coburn. As I’ve said many times before, if Coburn is traded, a pick better be coming back.

No way do we do that deal. If Bartulis wasn’t hurt then maybe.

The slated pairings for tonight are (I think):

Pronger-Carle
Timonen-Kraijcek
Coburn-Parent

Bartulis is hurt, Syvret is on his way to Adirondack, and we sent Mormina back with him.

If we made the trade, we’d have:

Pronger-Carle
Timonen-Kraijcek
Hamhuis-???

Unless we pulled a Calgary and said “We need Coburn and Parent in the lineup for tonight.”

Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?

Exactly. I don’t see both being required to get Hamhuis alone.

But a second rounder coming our way would make that a sweet trade. I’d like to think that we will call up Cury to be the 6th man.
