Brief preview tonight because... well, it's nice outside and all that stuff.
In the fourth and final game of this road trip, the Flyers wrap up against a Thrashers team clinging on for dear life. Just three points out of the playoff picture, today's game and tomorrow's game with the Flyers in Philadelphia are potentially season defining for Atlanta. How can that be with more than 10 games left on the schedule?
Consider that the Thrashers are in ninth place, behind eighth place Boston, who they play on Tuesday night. If the Thrashers can take four points from the Flyers, they put themselves in prime position to leap over Boston on Tuesday night. A loss or two could seriously damage their postseason chances.
For the Flyers, it's essentially all for seeding now... believe it or not. Eight points in with about 10 games to play is a nice spot to hold, but the jockeying for positioning is clearly on. More important, however, is the need to enter the postseason on a strong note. The puck needs to keep going in the net from here on out and Brian Boucher has to be excellent in goal.
No lineup changes for the Flyers. After the jump, questions to answer and our in-game thread.
Questions to Answer
- Can Brian Boucher build upon his strong performance against Dallas?
- After losing six straight, the Thrashers are climbing the standings and have themselves in a position where hope is an option. The Flyers can ruin that this weekend, but can they match the intensity that Atlanta will obviously show up with?
- Danny Briere averages more than a point per game with the Thrashers. Can he keep up that pace tonight?

Stupid Comcast Network
I don’t get that where I am and seeing as I am also a college basketball fan and there are some good games on, I am probably not going to bother with the online stream tonight.
LET’S GO FLYERS!!!
Proudly supporting a Flyers team with "no honor".
I know how you feel. I don’t get TCN…in standard def. I upgraded to hi-def two weeks ago and tonight i found out that the TCNHD is actually a channel I get. Go figure.

So that's not how you want to start...

I think the Flyers and Thrashers should travel back to Philly together. You know, play some poker or watch movies together or something.
I honestly don’t know why I even watch this team, they are so mediocre it’s crazy. Thank god basketball is on.
Just sticking to the pattern
gutsy win vs Western Conference team, go into suck-mode against an Eastern Conf team trying to make the playoffs.

How are the Flyers losing 2-0 already?
Glad I am not missing anything.

Awesome
I’m watching NIU-KU like everyone else, not bothering to find a stream.

Looks like we're in for a lot of goals

What's worse?
Baiting a guy into dropping his gloves and not fightin, or Boulton’s ridiculous chicken move?

Did Boosh just ball-tap Slater?

Sloppy game.
Looks like we have what it takes to pull off a comeback in this game. If we don’t get stupid and aggressive for no reason.
"Good night. Good hockey."
I have to say
These Atlanta announcers aren’t too shabby.

Oh man, I missed it. What was it about?

Wow
And that wasn’t just the two of them circling each other for most if it – that was punching through and through. Everyone is a winner with that fight.

so that last shot would be deemed as an average stop that is a should been stopped, opposed to defense failure?
Are you kidding? Where is his defense? Coburn fans on a loose puck and then Parent completely misses his check so Nick Antropov fires a one timer and Boosh looks like shit?

The fourth line contributes. Besides Richie I’d say they’ve been our best players tonight thus far.
"Good night. Good hockey."
Gagne’s seemed to have had a good night.
At least from what I can tell from my laggy stream…

Yeah, you’re right. He’s had a good night, should have a goal though, shanked a shot with an open net. But then again Danny B should have 3 already so I can’t blame him.

Coburn
that was just an awful shift…think he turned it over like 3 times leading to that goal

I don’t are who our goalie is, if we play parent and/or coburn in the playoffs, were fucked.

Kimmo and Braydon play well together and Krajicek with Parent wouldn’t be any worse than Coburn and Parent.
Rescinded. Comcast just had it wrong.

I live and die with this team, but we really are a joke. Never, never, do I ever know what team is going to show up on any given night. It’s like my ex when she used to drink….a total crapshoot…
I think Travis just found his comment of the night.
Apparently the only consistency is that if Boosh is in net, no one is in front of him.

You know, despite all the goalie issues with this team I’d say goaltending is the LEAST problem we have. No defense again, very little offense, and as much as I like Lappy it sucks that he has to start fights game after game to jump start the team’s energy. He deserves to be traded so he can play on a team with guys who actually WANT to win because this team is pathetic. Disagree and jump on me all you want, this team is not going to make the playoffs unless they wake the F up and play for 60 minutes every game. This issue has been going on for years now and a coaching change has not resolved it so I’m sorry to say but the passive players need to go and Richards needs to be stripped of the C and give it to Carcillo or Lappy since these are the guys who come out every game and play like they give a shit. This is BS for Flyers hockey and us fans are F*ing sick of it!
Could it actually be a good thing that the Flyers don’t gain ground on Ottawa tonight? If the playoffs started now, we’d play New Jersey. I still would much rather finish 6th and play Buffalo.
I want the Devs too. Marty B isn’t even a shell of what he once was. They don’t scare me at all anymore.

We better rebound tomorrow. This effort was embarrassing save a handful of players.

In his 7:55 on ice he still played more than Ryan Parent or Braydon Coburn.

If Travis is smart he won’t even waste his time with a recap…simple as this:
Flyers sucked.
Defense was MIA.
Let’s try again tomorrow.
Syllables are all wrong
No defense, really none
The team had no jump, no life
This game really sucked.
WTF
I really hope they weren’t in Magic City or any of the other strip clubs or anything last night because they are playing like they got fucking plastered last night. Horrible.

LOL, should have expected a pic to be posted.
I’m not hating on their drinking but they need to stop making friends with the camera for their own good.

Wow no post game. I guess that kind of sums it up from what I read on the comments. I have been away on vacation from work and the Flyers. How did boosh play? I am assuming he didn’t rock?

Well I’m not the best judge but I’d say that there’s only so much babysitting that Kimmo and Pronger can do…at one point coburn and parent were paired….zoiks. I don’t know much about Parent other than I’m amazed he can still play given his injury history. People say he has potenial but that it’s been hard to judge him fairly because he hasn’t had the the ice time to real show it. Betts played well. It was another one of those night where you might be inclined to say who is the dead weight that makes these team so inconsistent by not picking up the slack when the top tier guys are either snakebitten or simply having a rough night
It was another one of those night where you might be inclined to say who is the dead weight
That would be JVR. In 11 games since the Olympic break, he’s now a -5 with 1 goal and 0 assists. He has 22 PIMs on the season and 10 of them have been since the break.
And he ole’d Antropov through the slot last night for the game-winner.
