Oh great.
A guy with little experience getting his first start against the Flyers. This looks promising.
"Good night. Good hockey."
he has played over a third of their games this season.
Its a good thing, he is not a complete rookie

Yeah if it was his first CAREER game then i wouldn’t even watch b/c i know how this game would go. haha. still, he’s young, he’s not that great numbers-wise and he’s playing us… let’s hope something different than the norm happens.

Flyers lines are apparently going to go back to how they were under stevens.
Gagne-Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Giroux
JVR-Powe-Asham
Carcilloe-Betts-Laperierre
Looks like Lavy is toying with the lines tonight. I saw gagne, richie and briere on the ice that time.
see above for tonight’s lines

Why did Hartnell not go after the puck? He saw it, no one was heading towards it, and he got into position for…? Well, it probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal if it didn’t lead to, you know,. a 2 on 1 and a goal…
If he played it it would have been a hand pass but yeah he should have gone to it. Not just skate in the middle of the ice near no one.

I just jumped over to the NHL network to see if there was another game on but to my chagrin there was a special on Sid Crosby and his day with the cup. I actually threw up in my mouth a little bit. Depressing!
had the same reaction to a magazine i saw in Dunham’s Sports today, the title was “Comeback Kids” and it had the pens with the cup, I wanted to kick the rack over. What the f did they come back from?
"Good night. Good hockey."
by KreiderDesigns on Mar 21, 2010 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions
They cameback from being :
a) a Bankrupt franchise
b) a team that sucked and could barely get fans in attendance
Which is, of course they way ANY model franchise should be. Suck for a few seasons, get top draft picks, then reap the benefits.
Makes you nauseous thinking about it doesn’t it? :\
Oh, This is bound to be good
You can't, but you thought that You could
Which is exactly why I think Snider doesn’t care about winning the cup. It wouldn’t help his bottom line all that much, so there is no reason to actually invest in players, only rent them to fill the seats every year.
He isn’t dealing in a supply based system…..the demand from the fans is large and static, so upgrading the on ice quality makes no difference.
Ed Snider vs. Atlanta Spirit
Which is exactly why I think Snider doesn’t care about winning the cup.
Hey, down here, we’d consider Snider having more of a pulse than the Atlanta Hawks/Thrashers owners!

First game was like 8-1 Flyers and Karl Dykhuis air mailed a hail mary touchdown to Lindros for a breakaway. it was sweet and as always Leclair had a Hat trick.
I remember that series. We only got PRISM in the basement on a tv that inverted the colors so it was weird b/c the Lightning were Orange/Black and the Flyers were White/Blue.

I think the Flyers are under the impression that to get back into a game you need to score really pretty goals that are tic-tac-toe slam-dunk type goals. We need to just friggin work and get the dirty goals.
"Good night. Good hockey."
This is what they do when they are down at home. They play uglier hockey (and I mean that in the best possible sense) when they’re losing on the road.

@AnthonySan: Question: Does anyone really want the Flyers to make the playoffs, or would you prefer a collapse that would bring about the needed change?
"Good night. Good hockey."
Can you really blame Homer???
I mean, THIS is the team we wanted years ago, He made all the right moves. I personally blame the players, spoiled brats if you ask me. The show very little effort, ergency, or emotion. I blame Richards, Hartnell< Carter, Coburn, Giroux, Gagne, or JVR before Homer.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
Homer has so little aptitude for the position and the idea that this team has no goaltending, 4 number one centers, 12 million wrapped up in old defensemen, no draft picks, mediocre minor league talent and a bloated payroll. I WOULD SAY HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
But whats the point of cap unless its spent? This is the team we thought could win the past two seasons. Every contract and trade was great at the time. Hartnell last year was worth more then hi contract. Richards was given his 12 year deal when we believed he was a future superstar captain. Nobody on this team can’t play their weight in their gold. I bet if the players played like we thought they would, we’d be up there with Was.
And what mediocure minor league talent, you mean the shitty players we bring up? We have 4 or 5 better forwards then Nodl or Ross, and we have 2 top 4 defense men that are just too young to bring up right away. The Phantoms are one of the best defensive teams in the AHL.
And those “Old Defenseman” are the two best players on the team
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
It’s Not how much you spend but how you spend it. The line up is skewed. There is no balance with the money. Would you rather have an extra 6 million dollar defenseman or goaltender? Why all those years on 30 something players? If the talent in the minors was so potential then why were we unable to make any trades at the deadline. If no other team values your youth is it really valuable?
The lineup is fine, whats so wrong with it. 6 million doller Defenseman or Goalie? Who on this team do you give up, that in return wont ruin the lines(because you know that there is 1 or 2 superstars playing 3rd line with a role player anyway). What trades were available that would fit this team? And yes, like the Phills did by trading Lee, you need a farm system full of future talent.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
not get a goalie after your starter goes down after you’ve hired a coach that runs a 3rd man high or left wing lock …whatever you call it seems a little duh from what I’ve read about it….supposedly you need a reliable net minder for breakaways which that system is subseptable to. Also I second M from Paddy and would like to add that “energy, hustle, heart” are not athletic abilities…I know fellow contractors who put in 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. They are not professional athletes…Christ I’d be batting behind Jayson Werth if that’s all it took. I’ll take skill, game awareness and innate athletic talent like speed and agility over “heart, hustle and energy” anyday. However I disagree about Pronger and Kimmo, they are assets…a bit costly but they gots dem brains.
what Goalie was available that was worth what the other team wanted. (and if you say Vokoun, I’ll go Mario D on you)
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
Then you would be agreeing? But I would have taken a real shot at Halak and Plechanik for Carter. They either work out or we have cap room out the ying yang.
So you would trade a consting 30+ scorer and defensive forward that has a bright future ahead of him for 2 goalies that havent been good until this year. And I dont want Vokoun because he is the most hot and old goalie in the league.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
You’re right. It was a much better idea to sell the future for this season, and then sit pat despite the fact that this team isn’t very good. That makes way more sense than trading a strength that would only be on the team for 100 more games for one of the best players in the league at the position the Flyers are weakest at.
Yes. Balance is more important than particular pieces. Plechanik is a really good scoring winger, which is a definite need and Halak is worth the chance because he is an RFA at the end of the season if he falters in the playoffs.
But if he falters, then we trade a 90 player for an 80 player. There is a reason why the teams want Carter, because he is the best forward on this team.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
Just because he is the best forward on this team doesn’t mean he is that good of a forward in the grand scheme of the NHL.Colby Armstrong is probably the best forward on the Thrashers and he sucks. See my point?
I guess, but this team has more “talent” then ATL. Its just that they dont play with that talent. I think the team needs to make changes, but I just cant blame Homer for making moves we all know were great at the time.
And how many 1-0 or 2-0 or 2-1 games have we lost this season. I just cant say that goaltending was the issue. all three starters have above average numbers.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
You’re right. The offense sucks. This team was stupidly constructed ever since they kept JVR instead of acquiring a proven scoring winger.
Its time to break up the idiots who play inconsistent hockey and are responsible for this team being crap.
And the best scenario was Carter for Vokoun.
I would get rid of Richards, danny, gagne, or Hartnell over Carter, but thats just me.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
Except none of those make sense.
Richards is worth way more than Vokoun. Briere, Gagne, and Hartnell can’t be traded.
I’d rather trade Danny Syvret for Vokoun. But we’re dealing in reality, not your fantasies.
Carter is just as good as Richards, and these are things that stats cant prove. How many times has Richards blown a play on both ends, either by passing away a shot, or by jumping off his shift while the opposition was in transition, leading to an odd man rush.
BTW, do you think JVR will ever be good, or will you always rag on him.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
another question, i know you hate JVR’s defensive, but will you agree that Giroux is equally as bad. He has been as much of a liability as anyone on D this season.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
its not that, he will never live up to that fact that we should have Kane. after Kanes amazing rookie year, it put a lot of pressure on the fans for him to be as good. Unfare, yes, but its true.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."

what do you expect they are all like that….it cost 6 to 10 grand just to register for minor AAA rep. hockey….it is ther most expensive team sport to play on the planet and isn’t the blue collar sport that many people think it is…maybe for the handful of diary farmers from wisconsin or up state new york make it….the rest hail from the affluent class. Is it any coincidence why Catholic or other private schools have hockey programs and that why ivy league universites excell at the game.
I agree with you as that pertains to Americans. But I can’t speak for the Canadians or the Europeans.
Just because they grew up in upper middle+ classes doesnt mean that they cant put effort into their jobs. Crosby had a huge house, and he gives 110% into every shift. Thats all I ask, to give everything they got. You can tell that they dont do that every game, and thats why hey are so low in the standings.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
But then were at square one and having the #1 daft pick every year. I dot now what motivates this team, but if we ever find out, we are a top 3 team.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
I didn’t say we should do that but in answer to your response above about them not hustling then yes get rid off them….I don’t overvalue hustle, energy and heart in an 88 game season so it doesn’t bother me so much if they are lagging a bit in back to back games. There are other ways to win ….gamesmanship and strategy.
your right, but in those 88 games, how many of them was our team invisable? its one thing to be bad on a back to back, but we play as though ever game is back to back.
"NO HONOR"
"We will steal the show, jolly Rogers go, we are wolves of the sea."
i can’t say as hockey’s not my primary sport…but if you see it as problem then perhaps there is something intristically wrong with the team….a leadership thing? chemistry? I’d be venturing into unknown territory. I just think it is over emphasized aspect of the game and as I said they aren’t athletic attributes…you could definitely be right inwhich case they might not have a championship team mindset.
I wouldn’t say Crosby gives it 110%

Compare the effort you see form Richards and what you see from Crosby, and you can tell who cares more about winning. I hate the Pens and Crosby, but he does play hard every shift, and thats why he has a ring.

I bet Homer gets one more chance after this season to right the ship. His central missions in the offseason will be to improve the goaltending and to move one of the NTC players. If that NTC gives them the air of invincibility then that must be taken away.
Honestly, the core members of this team have the NTCs and they are the ones who we complain about most often. The role-players always bust their asses every night, and they are the ones who get replaced every year. They are the ones who should be rewarded.

They didn’t put in a 60 minute effort, but in reality no one ever does and they hope the goaltender makes a couple game savers and Boucher did not. Oh well.
They kinda put Boosh behind the 8-ball don’t you think? They start these games with terrible defense and allow a goal that he doesn’t have a shot at stopping, then he can’t make any mistakes after not playing for months. Yeah that last goal sucked but our team is good enough to play past that.

They did this when Boosh started the games before, they dont play for him. compare the offensive between all three goalies, and I bet a million dollars that they put up weaker number then with Emery or Leighton. I guess its like a football teams QB, you can be as good as possible, but if you cant get the tea behind you, then really how good are you.

These fucking retards on post-game…
Boucher’s save percentage tonight was .903. Thats right where he should be. Should he stop the third goal? Yes. But he just made his third start in four days after not starting for three months. (Not to mention playing the bulk of Tuesday’s game.) Do you really think he’s at his physical and mental peak at the end of the game tonight? This is what happens when you have a retard for a coach.
But besides all of that: the Flyers should not be trailing by a goal with three minutes to play at home to the Atlanta Fucking Thrashers. The Flyers have nothing but mediocre, at best, netminders on their roster. That means they can’t expect to win games where their goaltender faces 31 shots.
Well...
… I’m getting to the point where I want us to make the playoffs just so that Anaheim doesn’t have a shot at a number one overall pick with the choice they acquired from us.
We were in a similar funk two seasons ago (we had 80 points instead of 79) and went 7-2-1 down the stretch to wrap up a spot. I hope the same happens this year…

what kind of toilet…. the new water saving crappers don’t flush that well…you’ll need old American Standard public school toilet….that had power….you could flush a baseball down one of those things

The fact that the Flyers have lost as many games since Olympic Break and as they did and are still in 6th place in the Eastern Conference truly speaks to how bad the East is once you get past Washington.
Proudly supporting a Flyers team with "no honor".
We’re on pace for 90 points to earn the fifth seed, 88 to make the playoffs.
The fifth seed! No team since 2002, in either conference, has made the playoffs with less than 91 points. And 90pts could earn the fifth seed. Mind you, the fifth and sixth seeds right now are Ottawa and the Flyers, both slumping. It’s possible only 4 teams get to 90 points.
Interesting
Is this an anomaly or has it been trending downward…that is, each year teams need less points?
The recaps on this site are starting to resemble our team. Some nights they just don’t show up

Now now. Travis, Ben, and Geoff do this for love, not for money. They have other responsibilities.
Besides, we just got swept by the Thrashers. Do you really want to read about that?

haha, and neither Ben or myself watched these games, so it’s kinda tough for us to recap something we didn’t see.
