Anyone think we will see Vokoun in a Flyers jersey after this afternoon, tonight?

by LegionofDoom on Mar 3, 2010 9:56 AM EST reply actions

while I HIGHLY DOUBT it, that would be hysterical if it happened. I wonder if that has ever happened before, that a guy gets traded on the deadline day to the team his team plays that night.

we put Metropolet on wavers and during the afternoon practice he was picked up, and played against us that night

I hope not he will cost too much ATM to fit him under the cap I would like to see them go after Vokoun in the offseason where it wouldn’t cost us two roster players to get him. I am fine with Leighton he has earned his shot this year.

we could with giving up Carter

Winger please

Peter Mueller, Colby Armstrong or Torres lets get this done. Mueller should come the cheapest and he has the most upside.

by chrislanci on Mar 3, 2010 9:57 AM EST reply actions

love to see Colby Armstrong on this team…

I hope you all get Mueller. Another reason to dislike the Flyers.

what is wrong with Peter Mueller ???

by chrislanci on Mar 3, 2010 10:03 AM EST up reply actions

He is a disappointment.

by flyrsfrk05 on Mar 3, 2010 10:04 AM EST up reply actions

That is an understatement. He’s 13th in scoring on a team that can’t score.

6th overall pick three years okay he has some upsides I would take a chance on him he did net 22 goals not that long okay

by chrislanci on Mar 3, 2010 10:11 AM EST up reply actions

He’s been a mess since he got concussed. Even before that he was a liability defensively.

I think Puck Daddy got a little carried away. The NHL will get some new fans because of the Olympics just not in droves. Soccer experiences the same in the US. Every WC cycle it has slowly built a larger following. It helps soccer that more people have played the sport as kids. This is where hockey has its biggest problem in the US. Too few people are exposed to the sport at a young age.

Anyone looking to watch the coverage of the deadline, I would recommend CBCsports.ca. TSN is gay and has blocked their internet stream to anyone in USA. Also, if interested you can was the NHL Network streaming on NHL.com.

Vokuon and Horton for Carter

Florida wants Carter for Vokoun according to Tpanotch if we got Nathan Horton back in return I am willing to make that deal, Horton is being shopped as well.

by chrislanci on Mar 3, 2010 10:06 AM EST reply actions

not sure how the hell that would all fit under the cap but I am not okay with moving Carter and not getting some scoring back plus Horton is RW.

by chrislanci on Mar 3, 2010 10:10 AM EST up reply actions

Horton’s still recovering from a broken leg, last I heard.

Looking just at the feasibility of such a deal, Horton and Vokoun combined are 9.75 million. Carter’s 5, and we have 2.4 in room, so we’d need to clear 2.35 million in cap space. If we got Vokoun, Boosh is a cap casualty, and our needs drop to 1.425 million. I think moving Powe, Leino, and Mormina down to the AHL would clear enough space, but would also leave us with no healthy scratches in case of injury. It could fit, but not comfortably.

Where are we talking about trade deadline rumors?? Here, or is another post coming? I have things to post dammit!

by MarioD on Mar 3, 2010 10:10 AM EST reply actions

I vote for here, seems the most logical place no?

This is what was posted yesterday:

We’ll have one big open thread for all the rumors and non-Flyers deals. It’ll be open pretty early in the morning, probably around 8 AM, ready for action. We’ll update the main post body with information as the day progresses, but most of the action will be in the comments. We can all bounce rumors off of each other as they day goes on and have the usual lively discussion to which we’re accustomed.

But we’re two hours past 8am so I don’t know what the plan is now…

The news that the Flyers signed Shane Harper was broken by Teemu (I really want to talk to this guy), confirmed by Seravalli just now, but how do they get him under 50 contract limit? He MUST be a slide-rule signing.

What I know is what I read on CapGeek. I will summarize their one or two sentences as best I can: If the player is 18 or 19 years old when they sign their NHL contract AND they play in no more than 11 NHL games that first year, their contract doesn’t count against the 50 limit. Their contract “slides” a year, to the following year.
