Flyers Add to Roster
Frank Seravalli says that the Flyers will call up forwards Jon Kalinski, Andreas Nodl and David Laliberte and defensemen Kevin Marshall, Danny Syvret and Joonas Lehtivuori from Phantoms for the Playoffs. Also, goalie Jeremy Duchesne has been called up in case Backlund is not healthy enough enough to back up Boucher.

He’s a fairly one-dimensional player, according to this interview with John Paddock.
What is the future of Jon Matsumoto with the organization? He’s a restricted free agent.
"That will be something that we will decide in the next two and a half months before its contract time. I think a lot of situations, a lot of cases in the last two years Mats has made a lot of improvements in his game. I think he’s been a good point producer and scorer. That doesn’t mean you are ready to play in the NHL, or it doesn’t mean that you have to play in the NHL in the organization you’re in or a certain organization. Does he deserve a chance to play in the NHL? Yeah, he probably does from all he’s done here. But that’s the way it goes sometime…
"Not to be negative towards Mats in print, but he’s scored 29 goals, he’s minus-20. Jared Ross has a terrible year offensively, he scored 11 or something, and he’s plus-3. There’s a big difference. What that’s trying say for wins and loses, I don’t know, because I think sometimes plus-minus means something, sometimes it doesn’t. But at the end of the year, it is a figure players look at and want to be proud of and on the positve side and we look at. It goes into the equation of what the player’s done for you."
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Oh I read that, I was mostly kidding about it. It just always seems people are wondering why he doesn’t get called up, so I threw it out there.

Yeah, I think this means he’s played his last game in the Flyers organization.

We have enough Danny Brieres as it is.

Matsumoto is 6’0 and 190lbs, hardly Briere size. The Phantoms had a bad season, and Matsumoto had the worst /- on the team, but he also lead the team in points and goals the last 2 seasons.
I don’t really understand how you call up Laliberte and not Matsumoto, but I guess this isn’t really about trying a player out, so much as it is, looking for someone who can get 4th line minutes.
If they go with a skill lineup against the Devils (and I certainly hope we see that) then I’d expect to see Leino anyways.
Pretty much these callups are an insurance policy, and I don’t think they mean much of anything in relation to Matsumoto. I don’t see how you get rid of your leading scorer of the last 2 years, but maybe I don’t understand the Flyers organization.
