ECQF Game 4, Discussion Thread: New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers
New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers, Apr 20, 2010 7:30 PM EDT
Tonight's goaltenders:
After the jump, lineups, questions to answer, and our in-game discussion.
Flyers Line Combinations
van Riemsdyk – Richards – Giroux
Gagne – Briere – Carcillo
Hartnell – Carter – Asham
Powe – Laperriere – Betts
Pronger - Carle
Timonen - Coburn
Parent - Krajicek
New Jersey Line Combinations
Parise - Zajac - Zubrus
Kovalchuk - Elias - Langenbrunner
Rolston - Niedermayer - Clarkson
Leblond - McAmmond - Pelley
Martin - Greene
White - Mottau
Skoula - Salvador
Don't think we'll see many changes.
Questions to Answer
- Can the Flyers continue to shut down Kovalchuk, Parise, and the Devils offense?
- Will the parade to the penalty box come to a halt tonight?
- Is Martin Brodeur as magnificent as he was in the third period on Sunday?
- Can Danny Briere or Jeff Carter show up on the scoresheet tonight?
- When inevitably on the PK, can Blair Betts and Ian Laperriere continue to be awesome?
Same deal as the first three games... CSN locally, MSG Plus in NYC, TSN in Canada, nothing nationally in the States. Listen on WIP, talk with us here, and LET'S GO FLYERS!

fuck that, sick of watching crosby, have to watch his stupid ass all season on nbc and versus every sunday game of the week was them it could of been the penguins versus a peewee squad they would still probably air it.
As much as I can’t stand him and do get sick of him, he is fun to watch. And it would just be great to beat them for once.
and if we lose? 3 straight years to the same team would make us look horrible. Id rather see a caps/flyers rematch from two years ago anyday. Ovie is more exciting to watch.
chances of them beating both the pens and caps is very very low, not to be negative but your talking the two best teams in the league, and personally the caps goalies are a mess I’d much rather see them against us and not Pittsburgh.
Well no, if the Flyers beat the Devs and the Caps advance then it’s Flyers and Caps in round 2. We wouldn’t have to play the Pens until the ECF if at all.
Ohhhhh gotcha I wouldn’t mind that. Caps then Pittsburgh would be good if we could beat the Caps we would be riding a high going into that series.
well i made this analysis last night and people seemed to take it the wrong way…if Caps and Pens make it to the next round, I am afraid that they are going to be the ones who go on to the Finals…set-up for ratings? I don’t know, just seems too convenient that Ovie and Crosby have a chance at a collision course on the biggest stage they could possibly put them. And so I clarify this now, GO FLYERS ALL THE WAY, but it is just a fear in the back of my head at least….I don’t know about you all.

San Jose is the only team in the west that could be considered for the top two but they can’t perform in the playoffs so they don’t get a top too spot. As much as I hate Pittsburgh altogether they are far and above San Jose and so is Washington.
See I would take Chicago and Vancouver over San Jose. Until the Sharks stop shitting the bed in the first round, they don’t impress me at all .
I’d say:
- Chicago
- Vancouver
- Pittsburgh
- Washington
- San Jose

Chicago at number 1? They have no goaltending, Niemi has potential to be great but still I don’t see them going past the WCF. Same goes for the Caps, if the Caps had a solid goaltender who could keep the team in a game then they would be great.
How’d that work for Vancouver last night?

watching the ducks way back was great, Giggy had one of the best performances ever from a goaltender in the playoffs that year.
Kariya brought it that year too. Won’t ever forget him getting lined up by Stevens and returning one shift later to score on a wicked shot.

I think the lines are:
12-18-13
19-17-48
21-28-45
36-11-14
But Hartnell got dropped to Giroux’s in Game 2 and spent most, if not all, of Game 3 with Carter.

let’s see…start with less than 6 hours of sleep and add to that my best friend at work being laid off (temporarily). It was just one of those days where no matter what you do it’s not good enough and there’s no constructive criticism, just “It sucks.” The end result is re-thinking careers, an angry session of one-man hockey a huge cheesesteak (and subsequent stomach ache)…just not a whole lot of good came from being at work today. There are multiple rows: First, there’s the obvious goals; Second is shots on target (goals + saves): Third is Fenwick (goals + saves + missed shots); Fourth is Corsi (Fenwick + Blocked shots).
Then, the Corsi and Fenwick numbers are shots FOR minus shots AGAINST.

Yeah, but rumor has it that Tertyshny would have served a second, off-ice purpose…. The Flyers have always had trouble getting players we draft from Russia to sign. When the Caps draft one, the guy calls up Ovi or Semin or whoever to decide whether or not to do it. Tertyshny was supposedly going to be our guy for that.

my NHL center-ice has been blacked out down here in South Florida… someone (comcast) was too cheap to get the rights to broadcast the select few playoff games to this market. because of that i have been watching the games on the computer… i watched game 3 on the UK’s ESPN America broadcast. WTF! the game is in shown in Europe and not even available on TV for me in the USA.
GO FLYERS!
