Tuesday Morning Fly By: Still No Opponent, Recovering Flyers, and Fake Boucher Twitter

Because, why not? (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

Today's open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes...

  • Last night's NHL scores... Bruins 4 - Sabres 3 (BOS wins series 4-2); Blackhawks 5 - Predators 3 (CHI wins series 4-2); Canadiens 4 - Capitals 1 (series tied 3-3)
  • If you missed the MTL - WAS game last night, you missed a great game.  Here are seven reasons why the Canadiens won: [Puck Daddy]
  • Because the Capitals DOH! Canadiens won, the Flyers are still awaiting their second round opponent.  It's either Washington or Boston. [BSH] [CSNPhilly]
  • The Flyers got good news on Simon Gagne though, as he could begin skating soon. [DelcoTimes] [Inquirer]
  • Ugh... "that’s how it goes - how it always goes - for Michael Leighton, a talented goaltender who this season caught pucks, but never any breaks."  Waiver-wire pickup, gets playing time because two goaltenders ahead of him go down with injury, plays in Winter Classic, starter returns and takes back job only to go down once again, team feels confident enough in him to not acquire a goalie at deadline... Yeah, he didn't catch ANY breaks this year. [DelcoTimes]
  • On to happier news, there's a fake Brian Boucher twitter account.  YESSSSS! [Bouchermind]
  • Devils head coach Jacques Lemaire retired yesterday. [ILWT]
  • Eulogizing the 2009-2010 Ottawa Senators. [Puck Daddy]
  • Could the Canadian Hockey League - including the Q - be included in NHL '11? [SBNation]
  • Dany Heatley threw out the first pitch at last night's Giants - Phillies game.  Next to a 17-year old girl.  Hilarity ensued. [Puck Daddy]
  • ESPN may be interested in hockey once again.  Really? [SBNation]
  • Chicago eliminated Nashville last night, and it included a really really fluky goal. [Puck Daddy]
  • But Duncan Keith had an encounter with a fan while in the penalty box earlier in the series. [Puck Daddy]
  • Remember Carter Hutton?  No? He was one of the 10(!) goalies to play for the Phantoms last year, and he has now signed a contract with the Sharks. [euroflyers]
  • With the long layoff, writers are pressed for stories to write.  So Peter Laviolette and his "philosophy" gets a story. [Daily News]
  • Slideshows of the Flyers during the Seventies: 72-75 [DelcoTimes] and 75-78 [DelcoTimes]
  • Looking at Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price.  The Canadiens should trade Halak?? Yes, please. [Behind the Net]
