Welll guys….. this hurts but I got confidence for game 2. After that first period, we took over the game. Yes, this loss hurts (I’m looking at you Briere) but damn, I can’t help but think that we’ll come out firing in game 2.

Seriously, I have nothing bad to say about this game. Briere cost us two goals, scored the game tying goal, makes a questionable play in overtime…
If Briere is the story of the game, that’s usually a good thing. His mistakes can be fixed, and him stepping up is more important.

Briere’s multiple lapses early in this game were much more costly than JVR’s.

I know that, but if there is no 1st period rust and if Briere does not concede 2 goals early in the game, we would be celebrating a victory, not debating whether or not JVR did or did not make a stupid play in overtime costing the game.

JVR has been the worst player on this team for three months. The only goals he has a hand in are for the opposing team.
The Flyers have allowed 7 even strength goals against (not counting the EN in Game 2). JVR was on the ice for 4 of them. That’s not a coincidence, it is a direct link. Hes killing this team.
I don’t need analysis when you started your comments today with the player you choose. Shows you have no clue to begin with, and didn’t watch the whole game. They didn’t lose in OT, lost in the firs ten minutes, then played a stronger and stronger game throughout. This crap you bring up at the end is after the fact, and many people have posted good points, you just hate JVR.

No, but it shouldn’t have come to that. Either Briere should have tried to clear the zone/ice it, or he should have tried to get Boucher to freeze it.

I know he did. My point is that Briere should have done one of two things when he had the puck, one of which he did. Boucher didn’t freeze it, and the Flyers commenced to running around. If Boucher froze the puck, the Flyers change players and the slash doesn’t happen. There were several mistakes before the slash. So you cannot put the game on JVR.

so if that’s the case what other options do they have….he’s definitely struggled with the load…40 to 80 games increase in a speed endurance contact sport is a bad idea, but I thought by this point it was a issue of no available players. I couldn’t blame him as much as the trainers and coaches who doubled a load of this magnitude on an unprepared athlete. If he’s the reason then the fault ultimately lies elsewhere.
without getting into to it, when muscle gets fatigued the load gets transfered to the connective tissue…just the tremendous sheering forces on the pelvis alone from skating alone could damage tendons and ligaments which sets an athlete up for injury plague career. So is there a call up at this point or is the roster set?….probably a little late to introduce new blood into the chemsitry anyway

2) It wasn’t a “cheap” penalty. He would up and took a two handed axe-chop at the dman’s skates while he was staring at the number on the back of the Bruins’ jersey. It was a terrible terrible play.
3) He should’ve been off the man so the pass couldn’t go slot area, where Savard stood all alone because JVR wasn’t there.

That is not a cheap penalty. The stick wasn’t broken at all. The call came because JVR slashed him across the hand and waist, causing the stick to go flying. But it wasn’t even a broken stick. It was just a moronic penalty.

we are missing 2 of our top 6, and our jack of all trades, we played seriously shitty hockey for the first two goals and we took them to overtime. We shouldn’t be the ones who are worried. They should be…it’s theirs to lose not ours.
If losing this game does not destroy their confidence, they will be fine.
Game 2 will be a very telling game in this series.

that second one on danny was really really terrible though. when they replayed it and pointed out danny sitting in the corner picking his ass while the bruin was skating untouched in front of boosh
I’m impressed that they were able to take it to OT and so deep into OT (BOOOOOSH), but the rusty 1st and Briere’s brain farts ultimately lost us the game.
