We all know the NHL follows what I think is the correct format for a 7 games series with the 2-2-1-1-1 format, but what if the NHL followed the NBA format of 2-3-2. With Games 4 and 5 the two most important games of a playoff series on the away team ice would the Flyers have won the cup?
Assuming everything followed form and the Flyers dropped the 1st two games in Chicago, and then came home and won the next three. We would have had a 3-2 series lead with two chances to beat a stunned Blackhawks team in Chicago. We were all hoping for a game 7 and one shot to win the cup and thought we would have at least a 50/50 chance to win it all. Under the 2-3-2 system we would have had 2 chances to get that last win.
