RE: Hamhuis ... Flyers are NOT dealing his rights at draft. Want more time to work a deal. If nothing next week, he'll be dealt.

Makes sense not to deal him now. So who is going to be dealt is the quesiton now.

If they can’t sign him, they ship his rights elsewhere. I’d imagine that all you can get for someone’s rights are someone ELSE’S rights or a draft pick.
Should Hammer wish to play out west, as the Canucks fans are saying, then maybe we ship him to Phoenix for the rights to Michalek. Or if geography is not a concern, maybe he goes to Ottawa for Volchenkov’s rights.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Yeah from what I’m seeing if Hammer is going to be more than 4M, we should get Michalek or Volchenkov. Michalek won’t be as much, and if Homer is going to spend a lot he might as well try for Volchenkov or something. I don’t know, I’m just expecting all of these rumors to come to and end with “Hamhuis signed for 16M/4 years with Philadelphia with a full NMC” lol, knowing Homer he’ll have one of those NTC’s.

If the Flyers were convinced they could not sign Hamhuis, they would deal him. I don’t think they’re convinced yet. I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if they have started checking into other UFA defensemen.
There are plenty out there that would fit the Flyers needs perfectly (5th Dman) if they end up not being able to sign Hamhuis. Not signing Hamhuis isn’t that big of a deal to me, I just hope they got something more out of flipping his rights b/c Parent is worth much more than a 7th rounder in my eyes.
Same
Parent still had potential to be a top 4 D man. He was young, injured and had a bad season.

So if they deal him on draft day to another team, does that team have a new window to sign him before his is fair game?
Considering the Flyers 1st offer was a little more than $3 mil, it doesn’t just skyrocket to $5 mil in 5 days. I’m told around $4 is right.
Seravalli also says there’s “no truth” to Pierre’s report that Hamhuis is close to signing a deal with a $5 million cap hit.

If this is true, then look for Holmgren to swing a deal this weekend and announce on Monday.

We're in Twitter purgatory
This may all be based on our 140 character constraints…and instant media. Also, when did someone hear something? And then post?
I still think this is an “Adam Smith” reaction in the market, and whether Homer signs Danny H or not is based on whether there is market-clearing information acquired by the agent prior to July 1. He is absolutely not worth $5 Million, and I was a Hamhuis apologist. Whether his agent figures this out now or later will determine whether or not we sign him in the next week, or simply walk away.
I was in college in Boston in 1974 and when Clarke scored the OT goal in game 2 I knew that the Flyers would win the Cup since they would never lose at home.
Well, good call Gramps.
