With the 179th pick, the Philadelphia Flyers keep it in the family, select D Nick Luukko
Keeping it in the family, these Flyers are. With the 179th pick, they selected Nick Luukko, the son of team president Peter Luukko. Nick was drafted in the USHL Draft last month and he's expected to attend the University of Vermont to play hockey in the fall of 2011.
A defenseman, Luukko plays a lot of hockey with the current Flyers. He's around the team often and he also works out with the club on a semi-regular basis. It's tough to gauge him from his high school career in Connecticut, but we'll learn a lot more about Luukko once he suits up in the USHL this fall.

I thought (Peter) Luukko said he didn’t want the Flyers to draft Nick, because it would be too much pressure or something. Guess Homer was playing brick breakout on his phone or something.
Since successful businessmen of all major corporations always speaks honestly, openly, and directly to the press, and public, Im sure we can take him at his word.

Interesting
I’m very good friends with the Luukko family, and as I heard from them, Peter was unaware of drafting until they actually drafted him.
