Nabokov Asking Price Too Rich For Philly

Nick Kypreos uses twitter to say that the talks between Nabokov and Philadelphia are no longer because Nabokov's asking price was too high. Although this does not help the Flyers, they are not out of the running to sign Nabokov when he hits the open market.

What he’s asking is probably too high for anybody. I think Biron wanted something like 5 million from us last year, we shook our heads and moved on, and in the end he only got 1.4 M from the Islanders. If nobody wants him at his price, it’ll come down.

If he tries the open market and fails to find a suitable offer, the Flyers could still sign him after July 1 and not have to surrender a draft pick. Of course, by then Chris Mason or Dan Ellis could be signed in his place.
