BSH Radio 21: Talking Game 5 Losses, And (Hopefully) Game 6 Wins
Well, here we are. One game left in the Flyers season, perhaps. They're 5-0 in this situation, but this Finals thing is a different animal. We don't know how this will turn out, and honestly, the Boston series and the entire past doesn't matter at this point.
We do, however, know a few things. We know that the Flyers lost Game 5, for example. On this week's BSH Radio, Ben, Geoff and I talk about how the Flyers got here. What went wrong in Game 5? Was pulling Michael Leighton the right move? Can they take the performance from the second half of that game and improve upon it for Game 6?
And what about Game 6? Will we see any line shuffling? Will Chris Pronger return to form? Will Dustin Byfuglien, then, revert to his Game 1 thru 4 form? Ultimately, can the Flyers force a Game 7 back in Chicago on Friday night?
As always, get the show after the jump.

Keys to the Game
I see there being a multitude of keys to winning tonights game and forcing a game 7…
First and foremost, Pronger has to get back to his ass-whipping ways, which I don’t think is going to be a problem. He bounced back miraculously against Montreal after his abysmal Game 3 performance, in which he was directly responsible for at least 1 goal, maybe more.
The second goes along with the first, and that is, we need to have the D-Men keep their eyes (and bodies) on the top 3 lines for the Hawks. The line shuffling by Q was very effective at home, but can the effectiveness keep up on the road? Lets hope not.
We need to see Kraijcek and Bartulis with no more than 5 minutes of TOI each, which leaves gargantuan numbers for the top 4 to play, but they are going to have to. Look for Prongs to be upwards of 30 minutes, maybe even closer to 35 tonight, with the other 3 following closely behind.
The first line needs to click. Or will Laviolette break the line up, as he did toward the end of game 5? Richards needs to keep his nose to the grindstone and playing with the grit and desire that got this team here. Gagne and Carter should follow suit naturally.
Obviously ,the second line needs to continue playing at an extremely high level.
The D need to start pinching early in the game, much like the Hawks did all throughout game 5. This is when Laviolette’s pressure system excels.
Special Teams play will need to improve too. We need to get at least 1 PPG, and I would imagine come up with some big PKs, unless our team can stay disciplined much like game 1. With the level of emotion going into this game, thats not very likely.
And as always, Leighton needs to sparkle. These hawks are thirsty to drink from the cup, and they obviously have the talent to do so. Lets hope he can control his rebounds and look calm from the opening draw.
Flyers need to come out the desperate team, and carry the desperation throughout the game. LETS GO FLYERS!!!!
I would very much like to see a #48 hat trick tonight, followed by much celebration on Broad in prep for Game 7.

A Briere hattrick would be justice. :)

not going to lie; am a little nervous. might have to ice a bro

Don’t do it! Bro’s icing Bro’s is really blowing up, and I was ‘iced’ last weekend at a bar down here in DC. I was naturally not very happy about it.
if anyone were to do this to me, i would slap them in the face. it was cute back in college when somebody gave you the “deathball” or cap to the keg in your drink.
it’s utterly rediculous people are buying into this.
what bar in DC? i live down here as well. just want to know what bar not to go to.

What are you people talking about? What exactly is “icing a bro”?

Jinx
Chicago sports radio (The Score) is not only absolutely confident of a win, but they’re debating in what order the players will skate around the ice holding the Cup above their heads. It’s pretty entertaining to listen to.
Go, Flyers!!!
In Latvia, they're rooting for Bartulis' team, the Filadelfijas Flaieri!
My goodness...
If there was a Philly radio station doing this, and I heard it on-line, I would be calling them – from England – to tell them to shut the hell up!
Indeed – GO FLYERS!!!!

IDK if it has ben said
But most Chicago media is as knowledgeable of hockey as ESPN. They can put on a nice show, but meh on what it means.

I know this isn’t a true reflection of the fanbase (“The Score”, I mean), but, if the shoe were on the other foot, I would DEFINITELY call out and Philly station for being so presumptuous. It’s just not very bright.
At best, you hop on a celebration a few hours before it actually occurs; at worst, you just look irretrievably dumb AND you end up accidentally tarnishing all the fans of a given team at the same time.
I just don’t know why one would do it…

I live in CT now (Navy thing)
Do not get the privilege (or lack of it) to get a whole lot of Chicago Coverage, less WGN America TV (which can not broadcast Hawks games), or WGN Radio (Cubs)

I wonder why
I get WGN TV here in PA? ’Cuz I do. I can watch every Cubs/Sox game. I also get the NYY channel YES. Yay me. /slits wrist

WGN-America can broadcast MLB
But NHL Blackout Rules do not allow WGN-America to broadcast NHL games on the National feed.

Hey Flyers fans
Here’s to a great game tonight, and some damn good hockey being played on both sides, even if we want different outcomes. Regardless of the outcome, I probably won’t be jumping on any of the post-game threads right after the game, so hey, that’s at least one less “Chicago troll” you’ll have to worry about, right!
See you on the other side.
Congreed
No matter who wins or loses, it is going to be very rough for one side after tonight.
So here is to a Good Game, and Good Luck tonight guys, but may lady luck be more with my team then yours.
